Zaki: a man that re-form PM/DPM

Prime Minister Abdullah told a story today:

Zaki has already initiated reforms - he has reformed the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister - Top-Down reformation.

Immediately after taking his oath as Chief Justice, he immediately whispered to the prime minister of his needs and wants:

(1) He wants more judges, lawyers;
(2) He wants more courts in as many areas and districts and province; and
(3) He wants more money money too.

The first two, he gets immediate approval from the PM there-and -then; the third, the PM told him he is no more the Finance Minister and he will himself need to whisper to the Finance Minister Najib who is also the Deputy Prime Minister.

Abdullah then whispered to his deputy to seek his approval for more money for Zaki. Najib smiled at him: "If the PM wants money, he will get it; If the PM says Yes, I will do it" [emphasis added]

It was clear: you scratch my back I scratch yours; you scratch my head, I scratch your back. But if you scratch the lice, the louses sucks as they are anthropods.

So, Zaki, you are lucky; you will get your money.

"Let's see how things work out. Let's give him a chance and move on," Ambiga lamented.

Hahaha is it really about the $$$? It looks more like Badawi is taking out an insurance on his exit plan. After all, how much money can the government spend on the judiciary? As much as 12 or 28 Eurocopters?

Yes, give Zaki and the judges more money (and support) in return for immunity from conviction. (Since one cannot trust the police or ACA for immunity from persecution.)

Badawi's boys can either engage in a 'make hay while the sunshine' or 'consolidate' strategy. Given the global economic scenario, the first option has dark clouds hovering overhead.

RaZ,

Zaki doesn't need billions; he needs some millions and he needs to motivate his judges to perform and improve productivity.

Innovation and Creativity is also part of judicial process management.

Let's give him a chance and some money; not as much as couger.

"Zaki said judges should remind themselves that their salaries were derived from taxes and that if they ever felt they could not live up to giving the best service possible to the people, they had the choice to quit."

being a judge is not easy.from what i know, being a judge means that you just can easily mingle with common people and talk about the ongoing cases.being a judge is full with responsibility.if one just cant handle the task as a judge, then quit and seek for another occupation.

Maverick,

Talk is cheap.

I recalled the same kind of highly promising talk by a Premier who is soon to be outgoing.

He never walk his talk.

Time will tell.

If it was me, I'd be malu to have gone to the top post in asuch a shortcut manner.

But that's only me.

"So, Zaki, you are lucky; you will get your money."

So, does he owe one to the Minister of Finance and the outgoing PM?

Ha ha ha I think Zaki got it wrong.

If he can the courts and judges to run efficiently the whole problem is solved

More money, judges, lawyers and court will nor solve the problem.

Is there something I do not know?????

I wonder what is his definition of a judge who brings disrepute to the judiciary. If a judge blows the whistle, is this an errant judge?

Suka_amam,

You have good views. Let the judges judge themselves.

end,

Betul dan tepat.

My Raison D'etre,

Let's not be so negative. I understand the phobias and negative perceptions; but we have to hope, and hope for betterment.

abu,

Maybe; and I think so. But let's give Zaki a chance.

Moo,

Let's pray it will work this time.
