Proton MPV? Inova?

Proton MPV has arrived!

It may be available by April 2009.

Price? Maybe below RM90,000.00

Value for money. Let's wait for more news and comments from the journalists who had test drive.

According to Proton the price is below RM80k. The engine is Campro 1.6.

If we compare to Innova which is about RM100k and a 2000cc engine, the Proton MPV is not cheap.

The Proton MPV is about 20% cheaper than a Toyota Innova but the engine capacity you get is also 20% less.

For the size of the MPV like Innova, the 1600 cc engine may be under power.

Would you 'save' RM20k, risking buying a MPV which is unproven and underpower and expensive?

How's the build quality and safety features like ABS, EBD and airbags?

Gave up on Proton after hassle from a trio of purchase.

At 80K, stretch a bit and there's the excellent Livina, the Kia Rondo, not forgetting Avanza.

Proton Wish Exora will be competitive, but I won't touch it still.

Agreed with CyberMoo,

The MPV is underpowered. It will have no performance at all and it is not fuel efficient because of the weight too. This may cause damage to the engine in the short run - not reliable and logical if they want to create a 1.6 typical sedan engine to tow a 6 -seater MPV.. ouch.

If the 2 litre innova is an underperformer...what can a 1.6 do?

As with all Proton models, don't book until you see the real thing.

Much better is to wait and see.

Remember the Juara..touted as MPV...ask the many of those who purhased it before it was launched. Would they make the same decision?

Haiya, you all only know how to comment and criticize. Give our Malaysian car a chance lah. You all have high praises on Korean cars, but do they have second hand value?.A new Rexton cost RM 178K, but after one year it drops to Rm100k, over 40% depreciation. The same goes to Sonata and Accent. So give the first Malaysian MPV a chance.

1600cc still able move the MPV. The problem is not about "underpower", but problem as fuel guzzler. Under full load, 2000cc MPV will give better fuel efficiency compare to 1600cc. All due to much powerful torque or 2000cc and above.

The problem is about the build. Will Proton sacrifies the quality for the money? Smart Malaysian will let other test drive it. ;)

patriotism is one thing..but in the name of patriotism..proton has sold itself short to their customers....

Support can support..make sure got quality lah. I remember the Wira exported to UK some years ago..Same price as sold UK but fitted with Recaro seats , airbags etc.
