Political writer Yahaya Ismail told Malaysiakini today he merely 'negotiated' with Khairy regarding the copyright of his book 'Tuah dan Sial Khairy Jamaluddin'.
He stressed that the meeting with Pak Lah's son-in-law was "strictly business".
'I told him that he can have the copyright (for the book) if he pays me RM100,000 and Khairy said 'I will tell you tomorrow'.
"When his people sent me back, they asked, 'Can't there be more negotiations (on the price)?'.
"I told them that the price was already low. The next day, his people returned the copy of the book and said 'Khairy has no money, so he is not buying'."

Extortion and asking for copyright fees are not the same. In this case he is only asking for money to sell the rights to the debasing book.What if he was writing about all the good things and singing praises of the son-in-law? RM100,000? That would have been cheap!
But he writes otherwise; and the RM100,000 is concocted as extortion.
Each day we learn new English and new definitions.
Who says Malaysians are weak in English?
What is important was to establish the mens rea - the intention of the person writing the book - whether there was undue influence or intimidation in the offer of sales of a copyright.
Extortion is defined as an act to obtain from a person by force, intimidation, or undue or illegal power.

He is nobody without the PM behind him. Only UMNO idiots gave him a walkover to the Deputy UMNO Youth post the last time. Why don'they shoo him in to Youth pres post this time? Very simple...Papa is no longer pulling strings.

i think the author don't understand that what he is doing is considered a blackmail. yes it is, quite legally.
selling copyrights or whatever name he calls it doesn't matter. the fact is he wants money in order to keep things under wrap.
if he had solid prove of khairy wrong doing, khairy will surely pay cos he is also afraid of scandal. but what the author does is just compiling resources to show that he is a "bad-guy", stuff that we can find from various sources and written into a book. the author should have done some real PI work before asking for money. if he wants money he should at least do a proper homework.
just showing khairy is a "bad-guy" is nothing new, he is not afraid of such hear-say. we can even find it in the internet. poor author, i think he has a lack of common-sense.
These are the things that make lawyers rich..
