PARADIGN SHIFT IN MALAYSIA - NEW YOUNG TURKS TO LEAD GLCs

New Telekom & TNB Heads Posted by Hello

Telekom Malaysia & TNB gets new CEO

Yesterday, Telekom Malaysia named Datuk Abdul Wahid Omar as the new CEO and Che Khalib Mohamad Nor, the current CEO/MD of KUB Malaysia Bhd was named CEO of TNB.

Datuk Abdul Wahid who is currently the CEO of UEM was a former chief financial officer of Telekom and the new appointment is more like a home coming to him. He has spent 2 1/2 years in UEM, spending most of his time trying to restructure the massive debts he had inherited from Halim Saad (former CEO of UEM installed by Tun Diam Zainuddin). His departure seems a good promotion for Wahid, but is untimely as UEM had just got over the restructuring exercise and its health has yet to get back on-stream. There is still a lot to be done and whoever is installed to take over will have more than his hands full.

Congratulations to both of them as they will now have to take a new challenge to drive these giant sleeping utility corporation to a new apogee within 3 years term.

GOOD LUCK & PLEASE DON'T PUT POLITICAL CRONIES INTO THE NEW CORPORATE HOME
