PARADIGM OF THE NEW POLITICAL DYNASTIES IN MALAYSIA

Shahrizat’s brother to contest Lembah Pantai chief post

The younger brother of Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil is making a foray into politics by contesting for the Lembah Pantai Umno division chief post. Datuk Shahrir Abdul Jalil, a 43-yearold lawyer, said he had been persuaded to go for the post to bring about “change in the division and systematic management and planning”.

Shahrir said he had been helping Shahrizat, who is the Lembah Pantai MP, at her service centre since 1995 and thus had the opportunity to observe the political landscape there.

“I’m okay in my career. I run a pretty big legal firm. Let the people decide. If I win or lose, it doesn’t matter to me. All I’m telling people is that if they are willing to embrace change and a healthier development in politics, then give me the mandate,” he said.

He would be taking on accountant Datuk Raja Nong Chik Najmuddin Raja Zainal Abidin for the post. Raja Nong Chik is the current pro tem division chief.

“What can I say? I did not expect to be challenged? I have been taking very slow steps to get where I am. And now when I have just reached it, someone wants to topple me," said Raja Nong Chik.

Well, this is politics and this is a new culture in MALAYSIA. Political Family control of Government was practiced in the Chinese Dynasties and the Arab Emirates, so why not MALAYSIA?

Tun Razak had his son now the second in line and Tun Hussien Onn had his son Hishamuddin groomed to be the next after Najib, hopefully; Is Pak-lah's son and son-in-law rolling-in soon? What about Mahathir's children? What about Ling Long Sick, the 2 billion dollar son - Mana Dia?

Sorry, Tunku Abdul Rahman didn't plan his family succession in.
