CAN'T FIND SOLUTIONS TO OUR SPORTS PROBLEM

Sports Tak Boleh Posted by Hello

IF ONLY VIJAY IS A MALAYSIAN, CRIED THE STAR!!!!!

STAR SPORTS HIGHLIGHT:

Vijay applied for Malaysian PR Status 20 Years ago
September 9, 2004, The Star

"Malaysia could have gained international recognition if the world number one golfer Vijay Singh’s application for permanent resident status 20 years ago had been granted" THE STAR QUOTED!

The Paper also paraded a picture of a local fan holding a sign indicating:

‘Vijay Boleh’ during Vijay’s participation in the Malaysian Open at the Saujana Golf and Country Club in 2001. Vijay won the Malaysian Open that year.

Lee Keng Fatt of NST article titled: Minister got it wrong, says Ibrahim;
(quote) "Short of sparking a war of words, the Education Ministry have been told they had got it all wrong on the Sports Advisory Panel’s conclusion on why the country’s sports schools were heading in the wrong direction. … “I don’t know where he (Datuk Hishamuddin) got the idea from but to say that we blamed the sports schools for the failure of our athletes to secure medals in the recently concluded Olympic Games is indeed wrong,” said Ibrahim. “Do you want me to produce a ‘I scratch-your back-you scratch-my back’ kind of good report?” quip head of Sports Advisory Panel Ibrahim Saad" (unquote).

In another article by KM Boopathy of NST which highlighted our badminton's decline, and observing the line of Peter Gades Christensen remarks which goes like this:

“Denmark depends solely on clubs to supply badminton players with world class potential and the clubs do not have the kind of solid development programme like the one run by BAM. And yet, the Danes can still walk in and out of any tournament with their heads held high as they have produced numerous world champions and an Olympic gold medal."

In yet another article by NST titled:

Kok Chi: Stop the blame game & move on
Sept 9, 2004, NST

"What the sporting fraternity should be doing after the Athens debacle is to move ahead and look for solutions from where we were wrong and stop the blame game. The fault lies within a weak structure, fuelled by a negative mentality, which leads us to believe that money is everything in sport."

Digest all the above remarks and ponder hard; you will find the answer to our sporting problems.

....if only, and only if only, our sportsmen and women are as committed as Vijay, .... Malaysia Boleh had to be revisited!
