Taxpayers who had overpaid have been waiting for years for IRB to refund them. The IRB owes RM841.56 million to 2,285 tax payers, dating back to 2001. This was despite a pledge by IRB to make refunds within six weeks.
The government showed concerned with the number of complaints from taxpayers on the refund issue and had proposed the setting up of a “Fund for Tax Refund”. On September 14, 2004, Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Dr Ng Yen Yen announced that the fund was scheduled to be set up by January 1, 2005.
Now we are in September 2005 ….it is still "COMING SOON" ... "AKAN DATANG" ...
The economy of Malaysia is seen shrinking, cost of living is rising rapidly, taxes have been increased manifold, toll charges are high and rising, fuel subsidies are reduced, taxes and duties of imported cars had increased just to protect Proton and make the consumers pay to keep Proton solvent, etc, etc .... and IRB is hackling those who are slow in paying residue taxes, and they themselves are hell of much slower to refund taxes overpaid/overdeducted .... what executive management are we having? Suckers? Ass-holes? and a lot of talks and actions that only benefitted the oligarchy and Rakyat are left as peasants ?????
