The New Vice-Chancellor Epidemic

Malaysian Public universities are now suffering a new epidemic in the academicia.

First Victim of Circumstances:

First was Datuk Dr Mohd Zohadie Bardaie.

It was to everyones knowledge that Prof Zohadie was at odds with the Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Shafie Salleh.

Zohadie was said to had rediculed the minister in a poem he recited at the university dinner in June 2005. That was the visible beginning of the end.

He was literally cornered into a situation whereby the only option available for him was to have a graceful exit by resigning as University Putra Malaysia Vice-Chancellor.

Second possible Victim of Circumstances:

Universiti Technology Malaysia’s Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Zulikifli Mohd Ghazali is seen as the next person to vacate his seat.

His contract expires on the 5th Jan 2006 and sources say its unlikely to be renewed due to falling-out with the same minister.

Why is it that every V-C is at odds with the Minister?

Is this a virulent epidemic, or is it that the minister is suffering from some carnal bulimia?

Will his wife be the next target?
