DID D-G lost RM1 million to theft

I am sorry Datuk D-G to hear that you have lost $1 million which you had work hard to save for your pension. I hope there is enough remaining for you to live the years. Otherwise, you may have to continue to work for a few more years to earn them again.

NST & The Star reported that thieves broke into the bungalow on Jalan SS1/11A in Kampung Tunku of Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) director-general Datuk Kheizrul Abdullah, escaping with cash and valuables worth RM1 million.

On checking, it was found that a safe, which contained an assortment of jewellery, several medals and RM10,000, missing. "Also missing was a laptop computer worth RM20,000." (what? $20K laptop? Pentium 6 or 7? or server-system laptop?)

Kheizrul must be upset as he had work so hard over the years from a pupil engineer to the top D-G post; to safe that "little" and now it is stolen.

I can understand how hard he must have work to save them. I know of another D-G of PWD who had also work from a pupil engineer and now reached the pinnacle of his career. Yet he only lives in a SINGLE-STOREY TERRACE HOUSE. I believe he felt he is LUCKY as he doesn't have the million to be stolen; he doesn't have such money at all!!! Poor G-D; tho' he is thrifty and frugal, except for spending some money for his Haj, he probably have only enough to keep the family going and pay for his children's education. I just wonder why he is the probable poorest D-G existing in Malaysia. Pak Lah, what about you and your son-in-law?
