Transparency is a Problem

Transparency International Malaysia (TI) is facing transparency problem.

First, TI Malaysia Deputy President Lee Chong San quit for reason of inconciliable differences presumably, with the President.

Then, TI Malaysia President Param Cumaraswamy resigned yesterday, after issuing an ultimatum to the Society to censure it's Secretary-General, purportedly due to accounts impropriety.

Exco member, Anwar Fazal said the resignation of both were due to personality clashes and differing management styles.

CS Lee in his resignation letter said he step down as he could not see eye-to-eye with the President on several things.

Param said he resign because the conduct and behavior of the Secretary-General have become intolerable. "I find the Society loses its legitimacy to preach its objectives to the outside world." Param was questioning the expenditure on some of the projects undertaken by TI and this irked the committee members.

TI Secretary-General Adjunct Professor Mehrun Siraj had not commented.

The Pandora box is opened and the worms will crawl out.

A named transparent system is seen as not so after all.
