UTM & 30 White Dons

In a an unprecedented insidious turn-of-event, UTM Vice-Chancellor, Dr Mohd Zulkifli announced that UTM will recruit at least 30 foreign Dons from the West and Oceania to re-brand and internationalise the University.

“These professors will help to lift the name and status of the university and make it more well-known,” Don Zulkifli said, adding that each faculty will have at least three top professors.

The professors, who include those from France, Italy, the United States and England, will serve in all 10 faculties of the university.

Mohd Zulkifli said there was a need to catch up, and to meet the current needs and changes of the 21st century. Gone were the days when universities chose their students, he said, adding that these days students chose their universities.

Mohd Zulkifli said UTM strived to be the first-choice university for students. “We want to be like Oxford or Cambridge,” he added. He said the university would prepare for the changes by first having dual-language signboards. “Bahasa Malaysia will remain, but we will also have the English versions and our professors will also have to adapt to having discussions or meetings in English,” he said.

Bravo, Don Zul! You will be the first V-C to mould a local U to international stardom.

However, I wonder whether your dream and passion will give you stardom or pronounced your doomsday - doom from today.

I also wonder how UMNO Youth would respond within the next few days.

Don Zul, your words and desire are great and mecurial but may spell trouble for yourself. Are you brave enough to stand by your ideology and belief? Will you be able to weather the politically-generated storm that will strike soon?

Brace for it, Don Zul and best of luck. We give you our moral support. We have no other ability to help you. Pray to the Almighty for His Strength and Guidance. May God be with you from now on....
