Back Peddling

The Government of Pak Lah is now focusing on Green Book campaign and Pak Lah said it should not be viewed as back-pedalling or retrogressive. "We want to increase our food production. Our food import is still high. This way, we can reduce our huge food import costs and be self-reliant. We can increase our income. This is especially important in these times, when the price of petrol has increased. We need to make changes to the way we manage our expenses and one of the ways is to turn to agriculture. It can also bring in part-time income," said the Prime Minister.

Ya, it's not back-peddling! It's because Mahathir had launched all the projects and now there is no money for project and development. So, the government has to look forward to agriculture, batik, sarong, and trishaw.

Culture, Arts and Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said his ministry would conduct a study on the use and marketability of sarong in the country to popularised it among the people. “The sarong can be commercialised,” Rais told reporters after launching the World Craft Council's Asia-Pacific Craft Dialogue, themed Protecting the Textile Heritage. Dr Rais said he would ask Kraftangan Malaysia to introduce the sarong textile as a fashion creation, which could encourage people to wear it.
