The Prize of Marriage

80 per cent of women professionals between the ages of 25 and 40 prefer not to marry at all for reasons that: Professional women lack sexual desire, career priorities, and a search for rich husbands. And that while they want their husbands to spend on them, they refuse to share their salaries with their husbands.

This is what a survey of 200 women professionals by UMCFD showed.

Everything was ready for the grand wedding. The feast had been prepared and the bride was dressed up for her big day. However, the bridegroom did not turn up for the akad nikah. His reason: He did not have enough money for the dowry.

Did money buys marriage and love?

"I had plenty but I just want to remarry!"

"I love her! The wedding cost $1 million."

"I really love him. He's got a ferrari!"

"Money No Problem," says Lakshimi Mittal.

Lakshmi Mittal spents £30mil (RM207mil) for his daughter’s wedding. Here’s how a fraction of the millions was spent:

£1mil (RM6.9mil): Bill for accommodation of Mittals’ wedding guests.

£300,000 (RM2mil): Money Shah Rukh Khan was reportedly paid to perform at the wedding.

£200,000 (RM1.38mil): Money Kylie Minogue was reportedly paid to perform at the wedding.

£40,000 (RM276,000): Minimum booking sum to host dinner at Palace of Versailles, France, once the residence of Louis XIV.

Hayam Dorbek, an Egyptian journalist, wants her husband to get married and urged him to be more open to polygamy. He refused and she gets her son to help promote the idea to his father.

Paradigm shift? Evolution of the Mother Eves stigma?

Will there be a day when the world sees women married a few husbands?

What about toy boys? Women are getting richer and many had achieved financial freedom. They now looks for toy boys. Read about toy boys here and here

the weddings cost are ridiculous!

and even worse... so many of the weddings are held with such pomp and grandeur by the parents to show off to their friends, rather than as a true joyful celebration of the union of the newlyweds!

And the inter-family politics usually get played out to the extreme at events like these... ugh!

if/when *i* get married, it will be very low-key. No need to waste all that $$$!

... and on the "toy boys" and "material marriages" ... a sign of the times... everyone more and more materialistic... marriage is about getting richer, not about finding a life-partner. ... sad, ainnit?

Marriage has mostly lost its meaning and sanctity in society these days.

Dana Reeve, widow of ex-Superman Christopher Reeve, stood by her paralysed husband for years. She exemplified the meaning of the true love and respect for the sacred vows of marriage.

Sadly, Dana passed away yesterday from lung cancer.

How many men in this world today are counting their blessings that they too have such a good woman for a wife?

How many women are willing to love their men so selflessly?

How many men deserve to be loved so selflessly?

Amoi, I agree with you.

Azlynne, This is not about materialism. This is about choice - a choice to lead a life with wishes or a choice with mediocrity. Both are not wrong per se.
