Anakmerdeka; aka Amoi's loud call for "Safe City Concept" seems to have been heard by the Top Guns of Bukit Aman.
Today, Bukit Aman said they are placing a lot of emphasis on Johor Bahru, which accounts for about 70% of the crimes recorded in the state.
Deputy Internal Security Minister Fu Ah Kiow said the Johor police faced a shortage of manpower and facilities.
“They are trying their best to bring the crime rate down, but are held back by these problems. The average ratio of a policeman to residents in the country is 1:411 but in Johor, it is 1:568. The number does not include the floating population or people who move in and out of the state. If we take these into account, the ratio could be as high as 1:800,” he told reporters after visiting the state police headquarters here yesterday. “As such, the police are deploying personnel from low crime rate areas to those with a high rate to counter staff shortage.”
Fu said Johor had received an additional 170 patrol vehicles. “We cannot keep adding vehicles if there is no one to man them,” he said, when asked how many more patrol cars would be made available to the police here. He added that two new police district headquarters would also be built to replace the current ones.
On another matter, Fu said many people who claimed that the police did not act on their reports could have misunderstood matters. “After lodging police reports, it is hard for the people to get feedback on the action taken by the police. They think the police are not doing anything about it,” he said. Fu said some of the cases reported were civil cases, and did not fall under the purview of the police. “In future, people who lodge such reports will be advised to file civil suits,” he said.
Dear Mr Fu, we are no fools. You don't have to come up with all these crabby explanation. We have stayed in the city for umpteen years, and many had stayed there for generations. We know what is happening and we know what's the issues. Get your acts together and start taking effective and proactive actions. If the politicians spents more time and their energies on how to tackle problem, instead of looking after their own opportunities and building big bungalows for themselves and their various mistresses, tho' crime will not be eradicated, it will not be as critical as it is over the decades.
Dear Mr. Fu, spent some time in the highways and observe the policemens patrolling the town. You will find many of them roaming the street and highways, looking, not for potholes, but "Cari Lubang" and "Cari Kangtow". Those of you who spent time visiting the police stations for whatever reasons it may be, you will surely understand that the real issue is not the shortage of staff and enforcers. It's that they had more other priorities, plus, many are utilise to perform duties accompanying VVIPs and Ministers.
If we have "bullshit ministers, the natural thing to happen is bullshit enforcers. Take City Hall (DBKL) as an example; they are concern on those kissing and hugging at the parks and care of nothing of the traffic jams, parking problems and dysfunction streetlights, traffic lights, potholes, slow and snail-pace services. We have councillors spending time and money visiting toilets in Mauritius, Africa, and Egypt. We have fuck-up councillors and enforcers. And the fuckup ministers are aggregating excuses and cooking-up reasons to justify system dysfunctions and budget limitations.
The saddest of all, is that the rakyat elected them and choose to have the corrupts lead the nation. Look at State Councillors who served only one or two terms are able to owned mansions worth tens of millions. They must have strike first prize in lotteries for a few times in a year to be able to afford such excessive and exclusive possessions. Otherwise, it must be that heaven had drop those wealth at their toilet bowl; that's why they prefer to spent their time visiting toilets overseas.
Will we see better things to come? I'm not sure if god had ears. But I'm sure Pak Lah had two ears. Would you freak out too, Dear Prime Minister?

Hear! Hear!
Let's ALL shout out loud and clear!
Don't they dare say they have no ears,
Lest their loved ones too have much to fear.
It'll be too late to mourn
If victims they too become,
So do something FAST
don't wait until it has come to pass,
One and all must lend your voice
So that Pak Lah & his gang will heed our collective noise!
