Aiyo! Transport Minister also tak tau?
Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Azlan Sultan Abu Bakar said: "This is news to us."
"It may have been proposed to other people but definitely not to the (Transport) Ministry. It has not come to our attention yet."
He was responding to the NST headline about YTL’s announcement of a proposed $8 billion high-speed train service that will take passengers from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore in 90 minutes.
Tengku Azlan said YTL was free to come up with proposals.
"If (the proposal) is something that we need to look into, we will do so. But so far we have not received any concrete proposal (from YTL). There are lots of areas in the sector where we need to beef up the services."
Interesting to note about how the Malaysian System of governance works? Francis Yeoh, managing director of YTL Corp, said the Malaysian and Singaporean Governments had been informed of the proposal. So, who did Francis Yeoh talk to and I'm sure he did get the green light and blessings from the "godfather upstairs" to make this announcement. Who is that "god"? Is it 4th Floor or 5th Floor?
Another interesting point - is YTL targeting the KTM land at Tanjung Pagar which is worth some $4 billion? and, what had been the response from the Singapore Government? I'm sure it's not going to be another CYNIC Rail project. We had scrap the Cynic Bridge; are we going to have another Cynic debacle? Will Tun Mahathir speak up on this? His projects were all cancelled and replaced by the Oxford's plan.
