Unemployable, Not Unemployed Graduates

Guess who are the most unemployable graduates in Malaysia?

No prize for the right guess because you can't be wrong...

NST today highlight this:

Public varsity grads head jobless queue

Graduates from local public universities have this dubious honour, outnumbering graduates from private institutions of higher learning as the most UNEMPLOYABLE GRADUATES.

Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Bakar, acknowledging the disparity, said the number of unemployed graduates from public institutions of higher learning stands around 70 per cent, and private institutions of higher learning around 26 per cent.

WHY? Why is it so?

Have you tried interviewing those fresh graduates and include those who had graduated the last 5 years or so?

One interviewer complaint. I asked the applicant to talk about his family, such as who is his father and mother? The answer: "My father die; my mother no die."

Another interviewer, an audit firm ask the 20 applicants who graduated with accounting degree: 'How do you audit the expenses'. None of them could give the right answer, that is, 'check the bills.'

An engineer was asked by the boss (consulting engineering firm) to write a memo to the contractor on some defective work. The memo goes like this: 'My boss asked me to tell you that you got defect work and he say you repair it now or else he will stop payment.'

What solution is the government taking? Is there a solution? Onerous!!! You know why!!!
