A six storey building is being moved slowly by jacks in Xiamen, South-Eastern China’s Fujian province on 16th November 2006.
The building is to be moved 61m and turned 45 degree to make space for a planned new building on the site. The move is expected to take 9 days.

how bout the foundation? arent's the cost of moving are more costly?
well.. bout moving the buidling. if u know how the construction's works and how foundation should be to support the load.. so u'll know how the foundation is.. from my understanding, refers to the picture, the foundation was build.. than.. it placed the building.. on the foundation.. for 6 storey building.. it either use pile under the ground beam or use large pad foundation to support the structure above. can u see the white row in that picture..? that is foundation n ground beam.. which they have build to place the bulding. before they place it.. many surveys have they done. the authority also have to approve their work before they carried out their works.
and about cost.. it is not really much cost compare with rebuild. becoz they just need to cut the building and reattach. the moving cost, also not really much. that's what is my understanding from my studies. ehehe.. thanks!hope it help u understand how it be. byeee..
