Are We Ready to Welcome the World?

This advertisement really strikes me.

Malaysia will be 50, come 2007.

Can a small nation make a big difference?

Very soon, millions will come to see for themselves what makes Malaysia special.

What will make us so special that millions will come to see?

“Any concept similar to that of a Bangsa Malayan is unacceptable and this includes the idea of a Malaysian Malaysia. If people understood why a Bangsa Malayan was rejected during Datuk Onn Jaafar’s leadership, they should also realise why any concept akin to it could not be accepted.”

“It is about everything being equal and this does not capture the hearts of Malaysians. Therefore, regardless of whatever name is given, this is against idea kenegaraan (the idea of nationhood) which we have inherited.”

-Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman.

“The anxiety, confusion and worry within the non-Malays has made them feel beseiged and stressed following the UMNO general assembly,” says Koo Chin Nam, the MCA Putrajaya division chairman. Non-Muslims are uneasy about the economy, security, education, religious and racial discrimination and marginalisation.

Equally, many of the middle class and poor Malays had realized that they had been marginalised, not by the other races, but by the oligarchy. These segment of voters are ripe for the opposition’s picking, come the next general election.

MCA has already begin to sense what will be the winds of change that will blow in the opposition’s favour.

PAS are shedding its hard-line image and is quickly cozying up to the non-Muslims. They had made great in-roads and have shown more sincerity and openness towards the non-Muslims. They had emphasized to the non-Muslims the fact that Islam denounced inequality and the Quran teaches the Muslims to uphold justice and fairness, that everyone, Muslims and non-Muslims are equal in the eyes of Allah and that it is the leaders' responsibility to ensure that justice for everyone prevails, that it is acted upon, and seen to be done.

Has it become irreparable?

Hishamuddin and the rest of his UMNO gang should take their keris and fight the Americans in Iraq who have butchered almost a million of their fellow Muslims in just 3 years... but they do not have the balls to do it and so the easy way out is to threaten the Chinese and Indians in Malaysia who do not have the F16s and tanks like the Americans.
