Congratulations to Harbour View Hotel and especially to Dorothy Ling. You all have won something thats worthy!
Harbour View Hotel in Kuching was declared the winner of Tourism Malaysia ‘Hotel Lobby Floral Decoration Competition’ for Sarawak, beating out six other local hotels.
Though a smallish and simple hotel, Harbour View proves that Sarawakian Boleh, and with a budget as small as RM1,500, they could decorate the hotel lobby and cause a winning entry. The decorations were simple and inexpensive but truly classical, depicting cultural heritage and Sarawakian value system. The decoration was simple and without the any elements of extensively fanciful stuffs. It's about being simple and yet exquisite - that's the winning combination.

According to Dorothy Ling, the Hotel PR manager, the victory was due mainly to their staffs' creativity and teamwork that gave them winning entry, though they were only given a small budget for the competition.
Overall, 76 hotels and 32 shopping complexes took part in the nationwide competition which was organised under Malaysia Floral Fest 2007.
Success is not about splashing out money and spending extensively with costly decoratives. It's about simple passion, dedication and teamwork. Of course, it's about leadership and motivation. At the end of it, its the award that's the reward and of which all the staff and employees can savour and be proud of.
Could we learn a lesson from them? Would the government learn from these simple people, and their unique leadership which is the critical success factors?

u seem to like Harbour view hotel a lot and praise them ... are u part of the company......
actually, you are, if you are one of the customer there, as a stakeholder. Thus, they would have to appreciate what you have done for them.... eg publishing in your web is an effort that should be thankful for.
And I agreed with you that not the money but the team works and passion in their works.
Congratulation to Harbour view! well done.
