They assaulted the workers.
The rules said any raids by Rela must be endorsed and consent given by the police department and the fact is that the police were not informed and there was no police officer to accompany them.
The Rela officers were only allowed to ask for entry to the premises but the 10 Rela officers decided to climb over the gate of the plywood factory at 2.30am and assaulting the Nepalese workers in their sleeping quarters.

To top it all, the 40 Rela officers are being now investigated for making a false police report and for impersonating as police officers.
One of the Nepalese workers were hit on the head with a cane by the Rela officers and had to be given 3-stitches while another was beaten on the hands. The Rela officers were alleged to have smashed TV sets and electrical items before detaining 8 workers purportedly without travel documents.
Meanwhile Rela said they are determined to deport at least 40,000 more illegal immigrants this year to double up their total for last year.
Rela Director-General said: "Most Malaysians back their action".
Is that true?
It goes to show how power crazy they are, and these people just love power and obedience. They will do anything and everything to show that they are empowered, even if not, they will empower themselves, for, They are the Law, it was claimed!

This Rela thing really show a difficult and sick state of gomen leadership, be it at the top even to the departmental levels.
They really power crazy and hard up for easy cash... (do not ignore such possibilities!) especially when the living cost rising tremendously on daily basis.
Bad intentions will not last long; just wait & see!
yalah, they love to be "ayam telur". i had blog once or maybe twice already about how these rela men are power crazy, taking laws into their own hands. they think they are so great, the police of all police.
btw mave, where did you get the last picture?
The thread between social concern and legal right of action is very thin. After being born and lived in a community where everyone around is a family or friend that cares for the community and feel part of it bodily and soul and suddenly seing the impact of modernisation with influx of foreigners that care not a cahoot for the communal values developed so painstakingly over the years and swamped by illegal immigrants that saw the rise of sexual intimidation to downright abuse, house breakage and other crimes, and having lame legal authorities that could not curb nor discouraged the negative influences, it is difficult to maintain one's sanity. The thread of individual and communal rights must be addressed in a most diplomatic but firm way. The RELA springs from this need to guard the local society against destroyal of local values and system by foreign `invaders'. Try to imagine yourself in that community and you might have a different of opinion.
Rela = (Police + Court)?
Our police doesn't seems to be effective anyway. What about replacing police with Rela?
Dear Gukita, this is not math, 2 wrong doesn't make 1 right!
EVEN Judge Dredd need to follow the rules to apply law on the street.
Gukita,
I do agree with your points raised.
However, Moo_t is absolutely right as enforcing the law do not permit the enforcers to abuse the law nor disobey the rules and regulations. The Rela officers are not empowered by the law to unilaterally act without the police presence and authorisation. They were there at midnight; why? Why can't they go during working hours at a factory where the workers will be at work; why at night? It smells rat and they are after something that smells rat.
new gangsta in town....
Lucia,
I think the robot was from you; I can't remember exactly. Maybe I had not attributed the source...broke the plagarism rule.
Moo_t and mave,
No. I'm not saying the wrong can be right. What I'm saying is the good idea have turned sour because of lack of in depth study of its implementation including recruitment and trainings before they can be turned loose on the street.
