Malays must place emphasis on starting their children's education early to produce a talented “2057 generation” to steer the nation to greater achievements, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at the Third Malay Agenda Seminar at the PWTC.
I am not sure I should wish the Malays well or good luck...
2057 is 50 years from now and if the Malays need 50 years to produce 2057 generation of talents, by then nobody knows what had already become of the Malay Peninsula.
I do not know how or why Najib felt it would take 50 years to produce talented generation. Even if the Malays start now, it would only take 25 years to produce a generation from manufacturing to graduation. 50 years, it's more than 2 generations.
Rhetorics and idealistic propaganda do not create a generation of talents. The educational systems and processes in schools and universities will help generate talents if, and if only, the system is design to do just that. But the system is designed to fulfill a political ploy - the manufacturing of graduates without the foundation of profound knowledge acquired through hardwork and strenuous cognitive efforts of the students guided and coached by a well-defined intellectuals and hardworking lecturers.
What exists in the schools and universities are not lecturers and teachers; they are politicians and wealth-seekers, prone to seek loopholes and lubangs (refer to the Auditor-general report and you will discover it), spending more time in UMNO general assemblies and political seminars, serving the ministers more than their vocation. Asked any director-generals of any civil service departments and find out how much time he spent in his/her works and how much time they spent in arranging and attending meetings, seminars, functions and political patronizing and patronagement. At the end of the period, the schools and universities were merely fulfilling the KPIs - graduates, without the essentials. Of course, there are a few who knew of the systemic errors and plan their self-studies and tuitions and seek the internet for informations and knowledge to equip themselves. These few are now in foreign universities; but there are few, only few. And even if they do come back to serve, they would be orientated and cultured back to our norms, becoming part of the dysfunctional system, managing self-interests and ministers' personal interests.
By 2057, Najib and Pak Lah will be in another world; another leader will have to convey a new vision - 2107: Total Recall.

Maverick, do you understand chinese?
上梁不正,下梁歪. Thats why.
Purple,
Ya, I understand what you wrote.
I too read that article in The Star online and it left a bitter taste in the mouth. I truly felt sick and disgusted.
These statements in the article did it for me -
1) 'Malays were still expecting handouts and did not pay back study loans but if they want the nation to be developed then their mindset must change'
2) 'We will be at a big crossroads in 2020 because what we do after that will be based on whether Malaysia is declared a developed nation and, even if it is, whether the Malays will be a developed race'
'However, the Government's development plans were to make the Malays a developed race, he said.
If the government was so concerned about the Malay students not paying the 'loans' back, why don't they chase the 'loans' or have the repayment built into the tax system like other countries? Truth of the matter is, those 'loans' are really free money. If the government were to seriously implement a collection mechanism, a lot of finger pointing would happen because many prominent people's children who went abroad on these 'loans' did not pay a dime back.
The government's development plan is to make the Malays a developed race?! WTF?! So, it's the GOVERNMENT and not just UMNO? So, only the Malays and not ALL Malaysians? To me, that's just pure racist statement.
I strongly suggest that Malaysia get rid of all these parties that 'pigeon hole' races. UMNO, MCA, MIC, what are the objectives of these parties? The well-being of one race? ONE?! Anybody else think there's something wrong here? Until we learn to put our differences aside for the greater good, we will not achieve our potential as a nation and if we don't work together as a nation, we're open to exploitation.
having a brain as big as a testicle & coming from a family full of racists?
he should be rearing cattles in the mongolian plains.
mave: I agree it's just RHETORICS:)
Let's spend our time in prayer --
God save us awe; amen.--Desi
