Dissenters extinguished.

Mahathir was right, after all. He had predicted that Malaysia would become a police state. Today's arrest of several lawyers who were walking the streets peacefully was a factual evidence of the state of the nation.

Malaysia has now being group together with Pakistan and Myanmar. Malaysians can now cry... but they can have no tears, for they are themselves responsible for putting the dictators in the seat of power. Nazri was right; our only recourse is the general election, but the election has always proven that we Malaysians prefers these dictators and corrupts. Ini ada lah budaya kita.

Maybe, we should proceed to buy that Soyuz rocket. At least it will be money well spent; we will still be able to see some scrap metals lying around.

General election? Didn't someone said the winner is already fixed before the very first vote? We see more rubbish lying around than just scrap metals. Two-legged hyenas!

Bitter, bitter frustration.. Walking the streets peacefully??? Of course we dont expect them lawyers to bring parangs to the streets.. that's another person's battle cry...a has-been. But so far we havent heard any lawyer walking the streets and got caught by authorities. It depend on the purpose. Purposeful walking, in groups, with fixed agenda, trying to gain something from the crowd...albeit peacefully, isnt an Istana Budaya show for entertainment only... and they got what they asked for.. No struggles were paved with roses and cheering spectators. Sacrifices must be made. Our independance wasnt any difference. Earlier struggles against the British by locals were littered with sacrifices too. The present establishment were there not because they were cheered and applaused all the way to power. If this model of independance isnt good enough now, just struggle on and see if the so called people's patriots have it in them to brave the obstacles. Obscenities doesnt help...it only shows the true nature of the hurlers...Cakap Tak Serupa Bikin..very aptly titled Blog, Mave!!!

it's sad, isn't it. so sad. i really weep for our country.

why edmund bon was arrested was the biggest joke of all! can you imagine - it is illegal to put up banners and placards at one own private premises? then why never come and disturb our church (and many other churches) where we always put up banners (like announcing about the christmas open house etc)???

Anyone can go above the Law!!
If BAR cannot stand firm on the Law!!
===================================
http://www.malaysianbar.org.my/content/view/12738/2/

At second look, something wrong with Ambiga!!

Why only DBKL and not the Police to be charged?
Why talking only Trespassers and not other law breakers to the Bar?
Why not talking Human Rights for Peaceful walk from Sogo to the Bar?
Bar did not walk on Human Rights Festival!
Some brave members of Bar & People had walked the Festival!!
Don't you dare even to Voice the Bullies to the walk????
Are you shy?
Or have Human Rights been out of your sight?
Or the 5 are not members of yours?
who had uphold Justice without fear or Favour?

Lawyers, tell Ambiga what to do
A Bar for Lawyers and Justice to whom it concerns!!
Fight them in court
or a Institution of 13,000 members go burst!!
Or, to tell Malaysia or the world only Edmund and the 5 plus

Hindraf Lawyers at work for Human Rights!!

Or BAR is just a Victim of Banner Rights??

Gukita,

Maybe you wrote this piece a bit early (i.e no lawyers arrested).

Watch the video of the rally and the police interferences and judge accordingly. This is a Human Rights' march to commemorate HR Day.

Hasilox,

The scrap-metal collectors will have a field day.

Lucia,

We can't make a direct equation between the Bar Council premise and Church, irrespective. The circumstances are not the same. We have to be rational with this. I agree that the arrest of Edmond Bon is frivolous.

Sharing,

Ambiga is doing right, I believed. The Bar Council acted responsibly and is suing the right party, ie DBKL. They can't sue the police as they had acted accordingly (in this case of Edmond Bon).

In time to come, the only banners allowed in this country are those praising the virtues of the great iman hadlari

Mave,

Yeah, buy the rocket and learn from the man Putin himself. :-P

Another dictator with a just as bad track record.

Gukita,

Sorry! I construed wrongly. I thought I read "But so far we haven't heard any lawyer walking the streets and got caught by authorities." Latheefa Koya was arrested by the police on the street as she was addressing the walkers to tell them to disperse.

why not mave? to me it is a good reasonable comparision - just comparing both as private premises.
