Land of many tongues

Star Online news: Indian media 'grills' Samy Vellu

Samy Vellu also said a demonstration by 10,000 Indian people did not mean the country faced an unrest.

“Unrest means the whole community getting together and causing problems. This is not happening there,” he said, adding that the majority of the Indians were peace-loving and supported the Government.

Samy said there was no demonstration or violence in the country as claimed by certain quarters.
“It was a gathering by a group calling itself Hindraf. It is not a registered body or a union,” he said.

He said the organiser of Hindraf was not in the country while the others were detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA). (Dear Samy, are you inferring that the organisers of Hindraf was not in the country during the gathering while the others were detained earlier? Your statement did not reveal the facts accurately)

10,000 Indians gathering is not demonstration, said Samy. But the police arrested the 31 Hindrafs and charged them for illegal demonstration and attempted murder? So, the police was wrong... there's no demonstration and this is an official statement from a senior minister of our Malaysian government. Samy must be right and the police must be wrong!!!

Samy said "There is no unrest as it's only 10,000 Hindrafs." There's also no unrest as there's 40,000 people from Bersih. So why the police use tear gas and water cannons? And how can it be that the police and Internal Security Minister said the Hindrafs are terrorists? It's damn funny language. Words can be twisted to mean something in one place and another thing in another place. Are Malaysian ministers double-tongue or are the government as a whole multi-tongues?

The MIC party have fail in protecting all indians and other community in all issues.
My opinion: he should step down now before it gets any worst. The party should elect new young members to head its division as i believe the old guys are not capable of taking care of the indian community especially the lower income family. the old man need a new fomula to convience the community and not some silly book to tell plp what it has acheived. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

Nesh's Bru,

First, thanks for being here and the comments made.

Nobody can ask Samy to step down, nor even Mahahtir or Pak Lah. Only MIC can, not Indians; but MIC members all prefer Samy.

If there was no unrest and 10,000 people demonstrating on behalf of HINDRAF was not important, Samy Vellu should not be travelling all over India singing this tune. The fact that he is in India indicates that it is a problem. Or he is just in India on holiday using the taxpayers' money. Or may be he thinks the Indians are easily duped by a forked tongue.

it is true that MIC member have to call the shots. The reason is so obvious that samy is feeding them now.u know dont bite the hands that feed you. So it is difficult for them to voice their feelings or anger at this time. It is the ordinary citizen on the street like you and me should ring the bell to make a difference for every malaysians even more for my future children.

Bayi,

You are right; but, Samy said no problem; wherein the problem lies?

Nesh's Bru,

Ya, the MIC Indians can't bite the hands that feed them. The members that had benefited can't be angry nor would they care for the plights of the other Indians. It is those who did not benefit from the political patronages that are demonstrating and making their feelings known for the wrong reasons, unfortunately!
