MCA blames DAP for losing critical Ministry Posts

MCA strategist Datuk Wong Mook Leong said that if the DAP wins more seats and performed better than MCA then the Chinese community will suffer major setback.

He said that in 1986, for every 10 UMNO parliamentary representatives MCA had two. As a result, Chinese access to education and economy suffered a major blow as there were not enough Chinese politicians to protect those interests.

In 1986, DAP won 24 seats while MCA got 18. MCA used to hold the Finance Ministry and International Trade and Industry Ministry posts, but it was all lost in the 1969 election and it’s now gone forever.

Wong said if DAP wants to fight UMNO, then it should contest against UMNO.

What a crab type of reasoning. If MCA thinks they had been subordinated or suppressed by UMNO they should quit the Barisan. But the leaders are more interested about those political positions and powers which could translate into wealth and prosperity for their own and for their family.

I understand MCA well and I know what they can do or cannot; all they care is the Teo Chiew Folk Song: "qi qi ku qi qi"

The MCA is holding out snakeoil and handyplast the way they have been doing for ages when a major operation is indicated.

Yet there'll always be some ah mows and ah tows who will buy them out of meanness. The relevancy of their own service bureaus is dependant on the continuous hanky panky of the local councils, e.g.

Moo_t,

MCA is oligarchical and over the 30 years of observation, the only comfort is that they did better than MIC.

Wits0,

I think MCA is helpful in some council matters, dustbin and toilet issues, chinadolls and chinese immigrants issue; but they are not the defender of the sovereign rights of the Chinese citizens.
