Now, NST spin Westward!

Before the general election the NST was spinning news by interviewing Malaysians which shows the great number of people who wanted the BN to continue to rule and how everyone was so supportive of the BN.

Today, NST headlined: "It's a wake-up call to representatives."

and it showcased 8 persons' comments:

"We are witnessing the dawn of a new era. The rakyat have made it clear that they demand accountability from their elected representatives," said Nachiappan.

"I feel the results signify a change for the better," Rina Leong said.

"I personally think it is a wake-up call to the coalition," said Nurilyana Mukhtar.

"I am happy and was caught by surprise at the same time by the election results," said Suria Aziz.

"Personally, I think the results were expected," said Leslie Phillips.

"I am glad for the change..," M. Vellu.

"As a president of an NGO I hope the new government will continue to support our cause and make the rakyat its number one priority," Mohd Yunus Pathi, Pengasih President said.

Why didn't the NST and Star publish such comments before the election?

Mahathir was right when he pointed out this:

“The problem is we have become so arrogant. We suppress any opinion that we do not like and they begin to believe in their own reports which are not actually consistent with what is happening in the country,” Mahathir said.

haha.... it's so realistic huh?
i was watching the result program in tv1 during the result night and i noticed as more results of bn came out, the commentator's comment are more "leaning to the truth" and starts to pin-point where BN did wrong.

wow.....guess now they dare to say things. hm...wonder if they say the same thing b4 haha...

Ofcourse things said will be different pre and post election.

Pre is what we perceived.
Post is a reaction to what transpired!

Is Pak Lah sincere enough to acknowledge he could not afford Level 4 anymore and be willing use the scalpel? Does he has grit enough to do away with all the `ampus' and really get down to the grassroots? No, I dont think so.. He's a tired old mand who should rest at home with the new wife..

HOW TRUE IS THIS STORY?? CAN ANYBODY COMMENT??

Berita Esok: Pegawai SPR Rembau DiMasukkan Hospital

Satu Malaya tahu dah kira berkali-kali kau kalah 83 undi.

The Nation has got what it wanted. A stronger opposition voice in the federal and state parliments. But at what cost. I agree that we should have a check and balance but I also worry at what cost this check and balance comes at. I live in one of those states that has fallen to the opposition, Ipoh, my worst fear is WHEN (not if) PAS takes over as MB. What will happen to us, how will thw community be treated. In todays star Hadi Awang already plans to ban anything PAS considers "Illegal Activities" or Haram. It looks to me that Ipoh's hope of going forward will only end up in taking us backward.
I am not a supporter of the ruling oppositon coalition but give me a DAP or PKR MB anyday and I will be more confident that ALL races will be well taken care of and the first order of business wont be the eager promotion of banning anything and everything "illegal".
Supporting the opposition is one thing paying a heavy price for doing so is another. Did we really think the DAP would rule Perak or do the Chinese, Indian and other races voters really want to be goverened by a hardcore islamic party??
I am really worried even though I am a Muslim (a convert), I think everything should be in moderation and all races should be allowed their own freedom of speech, thought and actions. If only certain races are allowed this and the rest of us forced to abide by fixed rules than we will end up on the losing end, a state government that is more bent on impressing it views on the people than working for the people.

After all these are only my thoughts, and not in any way aimed at hurting anyone but it is my legal right. Correct?? I hope we can all live in a sustained peace and harmony and all works out well if not its gonna be a loooong 5 years.

Lesson not learn

His statement:
"Why should I step down?" he told a cheering crowd outside his home late Sunday. "Our party has won. I do not fear anyone except Allah. I will stay on, I will not give up.

"We have to continue our struggle, our agenda is far from over. We want our country to be progressive and successful and for you, the people, to be happy," he added.

Source Malaysiakini

As for Anon, even if PAS became the MB of Perak, he cant decree this or that because the gov is not PAS. Plus DAP will have 7 state exco seats whilst PAS 2.

CK Tan,

If only the main media had been more critical, Pak Lah would have done better.

Warrior2,

You are right on the Pre and Post. However, perceiving is about information received which would provide the system to analyze and seek actions whether preventive or corrective. Information gathered early enhance risk management while reactions to what transpired is too late.

Gukita,

Pak Lah has his personal dilemma; he has a daughter to take care.

Ycg,

With the 5-BR controlled states we should hear more balance news from the main media; that's what I observed.

Pakleh,

I do not know or hear of it.

Cruel Angel,

hahaha... it's Malaysia Boleh mah!!!

Famil,

PM said he had learned his lesson.

As for Anon, he lacks philosophy.

If BN is serious about renewing itself, one of the first things it must do is to open up its absolute control of the mainstream meadia.

To a large extent BN ended up just reading and listening to its own propaganda...and believing it.
"Shiok Sendiri"

Just before election day, my acquaintances in Penang BN were saying things had gone awfully quiet on the ground. They didn't know what was happening - now they do.

And the goons in BN who regarded Bloggers and their commenters as a lunatic fringe....

Maverick SM! I was gone foe awhile. Now I'm back! And so happy! The opposition did a great job! Woo-hoo! Over here in Kursk, I've only known so far TWO students still rooting for BN. The rest of the hundred or so students were celebrating when we read the results of the election.

Once UMNO learns that controlling the MSM is no longer a sure thing in the ballot boxes, the MSM will be free from their clutches.

The era of satellite tv reporting BBC / CNN /Al Jazeera with live coverage is just too much to spin. People have learnt to weigh the reports presented to them - no longer taking in wholesale.

NST et al have to reinvent themselves or they will get swallowed up by market forces if they want to remain profitable and remain honorable.

And Malaysians have displayed the right thing - vote your displeasure.

Kittykat46,

The mainstream media is only a fraction of the problem and it was also one of the key elements that was optimized by the Opposition to win votes.

I think the blogosphere and those political activist like Raja Petra and Haris Ibrahim had added the punch.

Jefus,

You have a good idea. I wonder if you realise the power of music. Read Aristotle philosophy.

Aleckii,

Woh, Russians are also celebrating...hehehehe!!!
