Samy Vellu yesterday unveiled statistics on financial aid and other assistance provided to the Indian community. The statistics were aimed at countering allegations by opposition groups that the community had been neglected by the government.
He said the government had provided a grant of RM300 million to build the MIC-run Asian Institute of Medicine, Science and Technology University (AIMST) in Kedah.
"The government also gave us an initial grant of RM8 million to build the TAFE College in Seremban, which has produced 44,000 para-professionals," Samy Vellu said.
Since AIMST and TAFE College are controlled by MIC which is the representative of Malaysian Indians, by default, the Indians have benefitted and gain, irrespective even if they don't because MIC is Indians.
Samy Vellu said the federal government also allocated RM1 million annually for the building of temples.
Samy also said Indian youth received an allocation of RM4 million of which RM1 million was allocated to 200 Indians from urban poor families who could not secure places at skills training institutes. The remaining RM3 million had been used as a revolving micro loan fund with Yayasan Tekun.
He said the government had also allocated RM5.4 million to the MIC-run Social Strategic Foundation to undertake social programmes between 2004 and this year.
Samy Vellu said the government had also allocated RM5 million to enable 1,000 Indian youths who had failed their examinations to enroll in skills training courses that included residential facilities and pocket allowance through Giat Mara, INPENS International College in Pulau Indah and other training institutes.
So, 50 years of existence and 28 years of ruling MIC, Samy has this result to show the Indians. Can the Indians be happy with this result?
Let the Indians ponder and decide.

Waa so much goodies for the tambees and the tangachees! So the Chinses must now form Chinaf (Chink Action Force) and then march in Putrajaya to demand 1 million pounds sterling for each Malaysian Chinese from Queen Elizabeth. After that, Kadazanaf, Sakaiaf, Negeritoaf, Ibanaf....
ROFL. Malaysia government are running under MAS philosophy - Mana Ada System.

the India government "help" little different than Taiwan that has already start the program in 70's. Many Taiwan industries set foot on Malaysia indeed hire lots of Malaysian graduate from Taiwan universities. In fact, those program produce more brain power for those country.
Oh yes, Singapore also doing the same thing for more than 2 decades.
small figure by any yardstick. Samy Vellu should follow up with measurement and the rate of success of these programs.

LIM KHENG YAIK, (THE UMNO DOG) AND GERAKAN
TRAITORS TO THE CHINESE
Politicians are all the same, and they are all consistently unreliable , because if he is reliable then he will not survive as a politician, therefore is Kheng Yaik any better than Dato Seri Anwar; I can say for certain that one is no better than the other. What I am saying is that we do not need to know anything about any particular candidate. We really do not need to know whether he is a good man or otherwise; and this perspective runs counter to what everybody is saying about what this has done or have not done. It is absolutely pretentious to claim that we are able to correctly assess the character of Dato Seri or Kheng Yaik and determine who is the better man. I SUPPORT DATO SERI ANWAR and I live in Australia therefore what do I know about Dato Sari. I do not a thing about him, and that is the thing about politics, IT IS ALL ABOUT PERCEPTION. In fact from my perspective, I will vote for Dato Seri Anwar even if I believe that Kheng Yaik and that Dato Seri is a chameleon and Kheng Yaik is correct. As I had earlier said I do not need to know anything about Dato Seri because I deal with the democratic process, I vote him because he says that under his government, RACE POLITICS WILL BE ABOLISHED and I want that so I vote for him and I do not need to know how good or bad he is. PROVE TO US WHEN YOU ARE IN GOVERNMENT OR WE VOTE YOU OUT. We therefore need to start to vote for the opposition to start the democratic process. We need to throw or better destroy UMNO now.
Dear my Chinese & Indian brothers, do not listen to Kheng Yaik because he is an UMNO dog and he will sell his mother or his wife to gain FAVOUR from the PM and UMNO. These are the UMNO dogs who hang out their tongues for CSRAPS THROWN FROM UMNO TABLE to the dining room floor. I spit on these MCA, MIC and Gerakhan dogs.
Kheng Yaik says that it was Dato Seri Anwar who put in place all those provisions that retarded the progress of Chinese education and that it was he & Najib who repealed it; let us examine Kheng Yaik’s statement to assess the credibility of his claim. I will first call Kheng Yaik A LIAR and then I will go on to examine what I mean by that epithet. I call Kheng Yaik a liar because the minister merely implements GOVERNMENT POLICY. In fact all decisions made by the Cabinet are made binding all ministers as one as ministerial cabinet collective decision. What Kheng Yaik is talking about is government policy and such policy are by the very nature taken by the PARTY IN GOVERNMENT and the minister’s function is to implement the details that will make the policy work on the ground; only UMNO as a party can change such policy and it is disingenuous to say that Najib revoked it. Having said that it can only be true that neither Najib nor Dato Seri could by himself revoke what Kheng Yaik claims credit for himself and Najib.
In this respect the powers of the minister controls only the details of implementation; but of course he has powers to grant exception in individual cases but not to change policy except with the agreement of cabinet. The Malaysian model of government mirrors that of the British. I anticipate that readers will want to ask me if ministers are so without powers then how is it that they can make money so corruptly; the answer to that question is in the power of the minister to approve contracts or such like. These functions belong to the Minister’s portfolio and they relate to “implementation. Therefore it is not true what Kheng Yaik says that it was najib who removed the offending laws that disadvantaged the Chinese.
The democratic process is all about checks and balances; therefore how can there be checks and balances if our Chinese & Indian brothers keep voting UMNO. If UMNO knows that we are all their SLAVES then where is there a need for UMNO to do what is just in line with our minority interests ? We have like a bunch of fools fear reprisals and we keep voting UMNO so do we not deserve to be spat on by UMNO as they are doing even as of now? Our duty to our selves is to vote UMNO out because it has always been UMNO that has formed government. Do we not owe it to our children and their children to pressure UMNO to act in our interests or we will put them out of business. WE NEED TO START AT THIS ELECTION TO START THE PROCESS GOING. If Keadilan, PAS DAP do not act in our interest when they are in power then in the next election we can vote them out. We need to start and now is as good a time as any. VOTE KEADILAN, DAP, PAS FOR CHANGE !
Ethnic Cleansing Through Malaysia’s NEP
I don't want to sound grandiose, but all of mankind through history live by a core value of morality, decency, the absolute need for good neighbourliness; these are the core values of all peoples who seek to live in peace & harmony; and it does not matter what faith one belongs to, be they Confucious, Muslim or Christians.
Civilised and mature societies live harmoniously by these values, therefore in these societies we find peace, happiness, law & order & citizens living happily side by side, in absolute tolerance. Look at the world today and see for yourselves, where are found the dysfunctional societies. We find them in societies where their people find it hard to tolerate differences; in Europe, we find this in Serbia, Kosovo, Albania (these are failed states where Muslim fight Christians ); in South Asia (we find Muslims fight Hindoo); in Ireland ( Protestants fight Catholics ); in Iraq (Shias fight Kurds, fight Shiites and Christians). There are other examples in Africa, but why bother to exhaust the list ?
I saw a picture on U-tube or was it Chinadaily ? I saw the twisted face of SHEER HATRED on the face of this Malaysian minister, Hussein Onn's son, holding up his very big KRIS in a posture of salute. What was he aiming to want to project ? Was he warning the other communities that if the supreme & superior status of the Malays was challenged there will be another May 13th Riot to cower the minority races? Let the truth be said that the Chinese & Indians have not done anything to deserve the provocation that this Hussein Onn's son had meant to insult. His antics were mere childish tantrums that impressed no one, it merely made him looked very foolish. Will UMNO really take to the streets and like "513" slaughter hundreds of Chinese ? I really do not think you will want to do that again, as the situation stands Malaysia has recently received the lowest foreign direct investments; at this rate Malaysia will lag behind all other S_E Asian nations.
In the age of IT, such image of intolerance and sheer bastardry is more the image of state THUGGERY. I have to admit that criticisms from the world community is like water off a duck's back; Malaysia is impervious to criticism; that said what does it matter what the world thinks of Malaysia ? I find it very incomprehensible why the Malays find such depth of hatred for their minority citizens ? Malays already receive all the money that the Malaysian Government got to give in grants, interest free loans that are never paid back, all the scholarships that come from the government. Minority citizens just do not get any assistances whatsoever from the government. Few if any jobs are available to the minority races. IS THERE ANYTHING MORE THAT THE GOVERNMENT CAN GIVE TO THE MALAYS? The Chinese & Indians so far have sat on their hands and hope that some crumps will fall on their
lap ! That, I believe will never happen.
The Indians found the guts in this HINDRAFF riots to demonstrate their desperation and for their courage I applaud them; and I say that their gallantry & sacrifice must be supported, because for the last 50 years the Malays have monopolized everything and it has made it too hard for the other communities to live a reasonable sort of life. I am no advocate for a good solution for all Malaysia’s races because for the last 50 years there has not been any solution and since they have not found a good solution by this time, one therefore cannot be found. The Malays in Malaysia is like the aborigines in Australia; their problem too are like those of the Malays, they too got everything given to them and all they ever do is to complain that they do not have enough and they drink away all the money that the government has doled out to them.
I am sure my Chinese friends in Malaysia will hate me for saying as I am going to say it as it is. In this paper I will not argue for a good solution to achieve equality among the races that make up the fabric of Malaysian society, but instead I am going to merely point out the truth, ugly as it is, and leave it at that with no solution because none can be found. In nations like Malaysia as for example, Rwanda, Northern Ireland, Kosovo, Iraq, India, Pakistan and many more, there cannot be any solution, so why bother because no solutions can be possible.
From my perspective the seed of all our problems was sown by our founding fathers, who lacked wisdom & vision at the very beginning of Merdeka. It is sad that for us in Malaysia we had a well meaning ”royalty” as the leader, THE TUNGKU and because he was a prince he could only see society as made up of graduated layers of high class citizens and lower class citizens, and he revived the so called ancient ORDER OF CHIVALRY; hence the orders of “Tan Sris” “Datos”, “Tuns” etc. and as a corollary to this society is also layered into first class citizens (the bumiputra), then the next level I suppose come the Chinese because we are more in those days “the moneyed class, and finally come the Indians because they numbered the least of the 3 main communities. Contrasted against what was vision to the Tungku, was the hard headed leader of the Chinese, an intellectual and a true visionary, Lee Kuan Yew, and he saw a modern society as one made up of citizens with equal rights & obligations; there was no fancy titles, one does not look down or to look up, “you are as good as you can make of yourself. There in lies the difference between what would naturally develop into what is Singapore today against what has Malaysia developed into today.
WHAT WAS MALAYSIA AT THE TIME OF MERDEKA ?
Malaysia was well endowed by nature, and she had an abundance of natural resources. Malaysia had land while Singapore “had fuck all”. If Singapore had to live by the rice that they could plant, then it is save to say they will surely starve to death. I believe that when the Tungku “kicked” Singapore out of the Federation, this must have been in his mind; that Lee Kuan Yew will be forced to beg to return to the fold. We were students residing at Raffles Hall at the time when for the first time we see a Lee Kuan Yew in tears when he announced that Singapore was no longer in the Federation. There you have it at the time of Merdeka, Malaysia had it all, while Singapore had fuck all. Apart from the most obvious (but not to be mentioned) therein lies the difference when the two nations were at the starting blocks at the time of Merdeka.
I am sure to be contradicted but at the time of Merdeka, Malays and Chinese were about close to equal in numbers, with the Malays making up about 50%, and the Chinese standing at about 40%, and Malaysia at that time had a population of about 11 million; and today Chinese only make up about 20% of a total Malaysian population of 28 million or maybe a little bit more but not much more. Singapore had a population of about 80% Chinese and a population of about 1.5 million, but today Singapore has a population of about 6 million. Today in Malaysia the average Chinese family has 2.5 children or less; and if we say there are 20% Chinese in Malaysia, then by extrapolation the number of Chinese stands at about 5 million, which is about the same as when Malaysia got independence; our Chinese people are declining in numbers due to mostly a desire to give our children the best of what we could do for them; the other factor is from migration. The predominant fact for the decline in the number of Chinese is that in Malaysia conditions are not suitable for having a big family. Migration is the most attractive option, therefore the trend is already set in place for the gradual and continued shrinking of the Chinese community in Malaysia. This trend is said to continue indefinitely. Australia has in place a policy to offer to foreign students who studied and graduate from an Australian University the right to apply for permanent residence (the Green Card) one year after graduation. This is a very wise policy because the parents pay for the education of their children and Australia get to benefit from their skills for nothing. Chinese parents in Malaysia now even go into debt to give their children the opportunity to obtain the GREEN CARD FOR THEIR CHILDREN. I am Australian for the past 30 years and I thoroughly recommend it to our Chinese parents to take this opportunity and come to live in the best country in all the world.
Is the shrinking of the Chinese community a good thing for Malaysia? The Malays believe that they will be better off if all the Chinese migrated to other countries. It is projected that by the year 2020 there will remain only 12% or less of Chinese in the community in Malaysia. I can say that many of the skilled Malaysian Chinese would prefer to migrate to Singapore as they already have done and will do if they had the opportunity. This is the direct consequence of the Malaysian New Economic Policy which has worked so very well to squeeze the non Malays into dire desparation.
Note : I do not like to post too long a paper. I will follow up with another paper that will discuss why the billions of ringgit spent on the education abroad of Malays is a waste of Tax ringgit.
Bro, my apologies for an off topic comment.
Perhaps you would like to have a look at this video http://talkonly.blogspot.com/2008/03/lie-half-truths-and-truth.html

Samy,

And, of course, the FACTS put forwards herein by Maverick's sites!!
MAV, it is regretful that you INTENTIONALLY didnt highlight the various timeline for the various acts because you have an ulterior and not so good motives. THese are recent acts by the govt or mic. These are not 50 years of contribution or 28 years of MIC regime.
But being pro opposition, you tend to main wayang.
Bloggers claimed that they are an alterntive to the MSM because MSM is pro govt and do not print the whole truth. But then with this kind of reporting, no wonder we shuldnt trust some blogs too.
And when Zam or Rafidah or Azai hentam bloggers, you people MARAH and jumped!
Moo_t,
Do you have the S'pore statistics?
SeeFei,
That's the keypoint; it's not just an initiative but the effectiveness of it and how much the Indians as a whole had benefited.
Yapchongyee,
I understand your plight and had read your various pieces.
Cakapaje,
Thanks for the video.
Sharing,
Thanks for the integration.
Warrior2,
You have a right to concort whatever you like.
Human had ulterior motives if they have such desire of some kind of benefits or personal interest.
And I do not need to have ulterior motive as I do not stand to benefit anything or to gain from it.
You have you right to your ideological and political stand and I have mine too.
And you don't have to believe what blogs said; you can choose to believe what the Main Media spin or what UMNO preferred; I am not against anyone who had benefited from the crony system.
Samy,
Pohda!
MAV, you MISSED the point!
Warrior2,
If I do miss ypur point, I do apologise. I refer to your statement in the comments [quote]:
"MAV, it is regretful that you INTENTIONALLY didnt highlight the various timeline for the various acts because you have an ulterior and not so good motives." [unquote]
If you could read as me, you said I "Intentionally" didn't highlight ... and that I had an ulterior motive and not so good motives."
I assure you that I do not have any ulterior motive; and my views and expressions may be wrong or incorrect but will definitely not be because of any ulterior or bad motive.
What I wish my reader to know is that I may not write things absolutely conforming to others' thoughts or dictates, but it is my honest opinion derived from my own observations of events and expressions made by the main media which have tendencies to spin "right wing".
It is my hope that you may have chosen the wrong words of expression but I accept differing opinions and intellectual discourse.
I hope we share the same objective of having constructive and intelligent discourse while we may be different in ideology and philosophy. I defend your rights of expression of any form; but I need to explain myself should I think the conception of my view is taken wrongly.
Thanks Warrior2 and I truly appreciate your views here.
Mav,
I must say you handle the cyber trooper quite well. It is strange why people want to impose their views on others or make people do only what they do.
Msiaman,
I believe that it's important to maintain this blog as a forum where we can hear the various views of others as well as to find out the defective part of my own view.
Many commenters come here to share their viewpoints and philosophies and we must accept their views without fixated calcified ideological precepts.
It is in my greatest desire to use this blog to read other peoples' thoughts and most of all, of those who differs.
That way, I will learn more from everybody.
I am trying to do another PhD in Philosophy and I haven't decided on the area to zoom-in; maybe, I may consider to do a research on Malaysian Political doctrines and dilemmas.
I thank everyone of my esteem commenters for providing me the thoughts and opinions and hope we can have more intellectual discourse paraded here in this blog.
IN DEFENSE OF Dato Seri Anwar
Hey! Dr Chandra Muzaffar are you trying to dazzle the poor Malaysians with your “Doctor” whatever that stands for; please la Doc. That Phd. Does not mean shit, It does not make you more intelligent and it does not neam that you are any smater than when you started. A Phd. Just means that you had taken an in depth study of one aspect of a subject and as a matter of fact a Phd merely leads to a career in teaching, Our Asian people are so awed by that Phd., thinking that these Phd. Types Know it all, nothing is further from the truth.
Comrade Chandra to my way of thinking, and by your claims made against Dato Seri, I say that you are bloody naïve. We are all humans (I think so) and we have emotions and full of bias and prejudices; and above all we are in truth all racist. I am racist & you are racist, and the only difference between a Mahatma Ghandi type saint and an ARYAN Nazi thug is that most of us who dare claim that he is not racist (you can leave me out because I am racist) are those who’ve got a two bit claim to having higher education, a wanna be intelltual. Comrade Chandra says that Dato Seri in the past had been consistently not in favour of Chinese and maybe he is truthful, while Dr Lim Kheng Yaik claims that Dato Seri is chamileon and in Lim Kheng Yaik’s experience with Dato Seri he could be speaking the truth. Bearing in mind that we all carry a lot of baggage are we correct in our estimation of the man. We are all very complex and we are all driven by self interests; therefore what oue see is not really what is the man ! We can never tell what a man will do in all circumstances because what we see as the man is only the tip of the iceberg.
Politics is all about perception and creating an IMAGE of the politician, and we just cannot know what the whole man is in truth. For Dr Chandra & Dr Lim Kheng Yaik to say that they both ahd worked with Dato Seri and that they know the man is ingenious. Both these Dr.’s are playing their support for the BN and not quite really to give an assessment of Dato Seri for what he is factually, because that will be beyond their capability. Having said that I say both of them are naïve THAT IS NOT HOW THE GAME OF POLITICS IS PLAYED. We can only take Dato Seri at his word and the issue is therefore ARE WE HAPPY WITH HIS PROGRAMME FOR HIS GOVERNMENT ? That to my mind is all that we need to ask and we will have to take him at his word; because we just cannot do otherwise. WE DO NOT NEED TO KNOW WHAT IN TRUTH HE IS LIKE AND THAT BY OUR UNDERSTANDING HE WILL OR WILL NOT DLIVER WHAT HE HAD PROMISED FOR THE ELECTION. There is no need to go too far out of the way; ask yourselves what had BN promised for the last election (1999) and did BN deliver ? I do not think so !
Dato Seri and the United Front of DAP, PAS and Keadilan HAS MADE IT THEIR PLATFORM that if elected he and his United Front will deliver a GOVERNMENT FOR ALL MALAYSIANS AND TO STEP BACK FROM RACE BASED POLITICS. That is what we must accept for the truth; and if he ever fail to deliver then the next election vote him and his United Front out. This is what will therefore develop into a TWO PARTY POLITICAL STRUCTURE. Is this not what we want, and what is the profit if we just not believe him and we merely take the word og the two Dr.’s both of them are pretentious and know it all. I say do not listen to them shooting hot air. VOTE OPPOSITION and let 2 party politics develop.
Yapchongyee,
I agree that we have to look forward to seeking politicians who could ensure a just, fair and equitable government.
