Keng Yaik shows senility

The Economic Planning Unit must be restored to its rightful place and not be the "authority that decides on who becomes rich," former energy, water and communications minister Datuk Seri Dr Lim Keng Yaik said today.

He was probably referring to the fact that the EPU grants licences for major projects.

He said the EPU should have the best brains working for it and it must be more multi-racial.

LKY seems a confused man. To have only the best brain must mean applying aristocracy and meritocracy. To be multi-racial means democracy, mediocrity and the application of the racial quotas. To be controlled by one race from one community means applying eccentricity, statism, fascism and a move towards idiosyncrasy.

When asked about Lim Guan Eng's offer and Lee Kah Choon acceptance to join InvestPenang and PDC, he was upset over it. This is what he has to say to Lim Guan Eng: “Run the state of Penang but there is no need to poach our people and he (Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng) called this the new era of politics. I doubt if Karpal Singh or his father (Lim Kit Siang) encouraged this.”

He is so inconsistent with his own ideology and belief system; he contradicts himself all the time. On the EPU he called for meritocracy, but when it comes to applying meritocracy that involves his member he called LKC is an opportunist and decried that LGE is a proacher. But a good leader is someone who looks and act beyond his own political sphere and are willing to accept the best talents available including those who comes from different political parties, those from other races, and those who are willing to serve the rakyat.

But we can't blame LKY; neither can we blame Dr. M; they both are after all, calcified BN idiotical-idiosyncratic.

However, there is one statement that LKY said that needs pondering:

"Lim said EPU must really plan, and not just be in the authority “to decide who becomes rich and who goes bankrupt” (source: Keng Yaik: We must ensure that projects are carried out effectively)

First and foremost, when he was a minister and a cabinet member, for umpteen years, why didn't he say it out loud? If he did say it silently and whispering it to the PM, why wasn't there any effect? Is it because the govt controlled by Umno cannot accept it as it runs contrary to their own ideology? If it is so, then why did LKY continued and remained as a minister which is against his fundamental principles? Is it because of wealth and power too?

Meanwhile, Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng reiterate that the Penang Government will continue to offer posts to people who are “competent, accountable and transparent” regardless of which political party they belong to.

LGE said he was serious about wanting to forge a new paradigm that cuts across the political divide and brings people together, including those “who did not vote for us” to contribute to the betterment of the state.

He said while this was “something new and ground-breaking” he certainly did not expect the move to be “criticised and condemned in such strong terms by top national (Barisan Nasional) leaders.”

“Are we going to grow up and grow out of the outdated mindset? The time has come to look at the content of character rather than colour of skin or the gods you pray to or the respective political beliefs that you hold,” he told a press conference yesterday.

He stressed that the DAP-led Penang government would have no second thoughts about offering other clean and competent Barisan leaders in the state a post.

“If we have the confidence they can serve, we will appoint them.

“If they feel they don't want to take on the pressure they have a right not to continue and we respect their wishes and we will not condemn them,” he added.

For your information, Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has lost about 10kg since the general election. He work, work, and work... to serve the people of Penang (read: Guan Eng much slimmer now)

Utusan Malaysia reported that a buffalo became mad and went on a rampage for nearly three hours in Pasir Puteh, Kelantan, before it was finally stopped when it was shot 17 times.

The three-year-old buffalo had earlier lost in a fight with another buffalo at Kampung Baru near the town. It caused a stir when it entered the district police station headquarters and a mosque (source: TheStar)

good piece. i am drawn to one of your paragraphs:

"First and foremost, when he was a minister and a cabinet member, for umpteen years, why didn't he say it out loud? If he did say it silently and whispering it to the PM, why wasn't there any effect? now change the word LKY to anwar ibrahim. and we have another politician without credibility and integrity talking about corruption.

LKY try to be relevant from the irrelevant point of view.

Like NEP, EPU are flawed. It is an invasive system with NO check balance , assessment and accountability. EPU is a monster created by Mahathir to fulfill his personnel legacy.

EPU biggest problem are "get things done", but never about "do thing rights". Thanks to Mahathir and EPU, Malaysia are now flooded with too many infrastructure that cost many billions to maintain.

I bet Guang Eng lost weight because of the excitement. ;)

And the buffalo incident worry me. After checking the detail, it is 17 bullets, NOT A SINGLE tranquiliser shots. I say WTF!!! Where the hell is the tranquiliser? It is CRAZY to fire 15 shots when just 2 tranquiliser can brought down an elephant.

The buffalo was lucky in that it was not C4-ed

Jebatmustdie,

I do agree that Anwar was the same. But he has changed his political stand and wants to eradicate corruption and openly seeks that change.

Moo_t,

We don't use tranquilizer; even in Batu Buruk it's live bullet.

Mave

I am convinced that LKY is not a leader. He is just a politician.

Maverick SM said...

Edi,

He will live long as he is healthy.

Bayi,

He is a leader and he is a politician. But he is outdated and irrelevant.

It is tragic when one becomes senile but still thinks he's a wanted leader. He goes ranting senselessly and turns eveything he says into a tragi-comedy.

He doesn't understand that people don't love this kind of tragi-comedies.

Maverick SM said...

Bayi,

You are absolutely right. Poor Keng Yaik, he doesn't know he's senile.

Keng Yaik doesn't know that his party has been irrelevant for a very long time either and what people think of it and him. He chose to believe that himself and his party made a difference when it did not...that they are in some ways more irritating than even the MCA. Imagine himself thinking that his si pin could stand a chance in politics of ass-selling just because he managed to muddle through all these long years of charade. Ha!
