Muhyiddin pressuring downtrodden Pak Lah

“Can Umno survive this one term to the 13th (next) general election and will it be able to redeem its loss while we face the wave of new political thinking or will we collapse into the political chasm for good,” vice-president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin posed this question to his party members.

“The question now is to what extent Umno can withstand the wave of the new political thinking in the country. More importantly, the question is to what point the Malay political power can sustain itself in the years ahead.

Muhyiddin said the recent election results also showed the domination of Malay politics through Umno which was long regarded as beyond challenge had purportedly become a myth.

“I think the sentiments are boiling at the grassroots of their utter dissatisfaction. Therefore, if changes don’t happen in Umno, many adverse things will surface. “I’m afraid if I don’t speak the truth, it can eventually lead to disaster for the Malays and Umno,” he said in an interview with Mingguan Malaysia published today.

“I worry if there are no changes made as demanded not only by Umno members but also by people from outside the party, the people will reject Barisan Nasional (BN) and Umno.

He said the general election results clearly showed the people’s misgivings on the party leadership and now people in and outside Umno questioned the party leadership on family links and the system practised.

If the changes are not made immediately, Umno will also lose power and can never make a comeback,’ said the International Trade and Industry minister.

What message did Muhyiddin intends to forward with this piece of advice?

Is he using language philosophy to tell our PM Pak Lah to change Umno's political direction in response to the message derived from the recent general election that the citizens are unhappy and fed up with the social and racial discriminations, injustice, betrayal of trusts and massive corruptions within the oligarchy and its cadres?

or is he saying that Umno must not just speak and defend Malays' interests but the interest of all Malaysians?

or is he gently threatening Pak Lah to force him to quit and hand over power to Najib?

Will Najib become a better prime minister and is he a more capable leader for the Malaysians or just the Malays?

What about the message sent to non-Malays by Kelantan Crown Prince Tengku Faris Petra who read from a 11-page prepared text carefully written by an ultra-rightist Malay ghost writer to frame the prince and forced him into a challenging position at a forum to deliver the keynote address titled “Malay unity is the core of national unity” organised by the newly formed Barisan Bertindak Perpaduan Melayu in Kuala Lumpur?

Malaysia is surely at a crossroad and racial divide is far more imminent and insidious.

That old goat Dollah is cursing himself for dumping his sweet little cuddly gal Rafidah in favour of this ungrateful wolf, Muhiddin

If the PM has brains, he should take a page out of the "Book of Mamak Tricks" and have Muhyiddin arrested for sodomy with his driver/gardener/bread-vendor/whatever... Justice Augustine Paul will happily volunteer to examine Muhyiddin's mattress and sentence that bum to 20 years behind bars

one is malay umno & the other the malay biasa.

the latter can be good kawan but the former... can ask them to rot in hell.

Observing current UMNO developments, froggies seem like a welcome move to tilt the balance in PR's favour.

I think it's now or never to turn the tide before UMNO recouped its position.

Should the revolt be successful, PR cannot expect the new UMNO extremists to play fair and most likely they would abuse the use of ISA on some trump up charges to paralyse PR.

P.S. read Pasquale's reply about how they are still in control of the arsenal to Shanghai Stephen at this link http://barkingmagpie.blogspot.com/2008/04/umno-like-any-sick-old-man-is.html

I have to disagree with yr statement on "framing and forcing"

Who held a knife to his throat?

Was he threatened with the Royal House being overthrown if he did not go with the flow?

Even if he was "forced" to read out a speech to which he had not previously vetted, the "Prince" can have several options opened to him

1. Remind and Defend the constitution of the rights of ALL Rakyats(of which maybe he was unaware?)

2. Disclaim and distance himself in a diplomatic way after reading
eg. "this speech was not prepared by me & I do not subsrcibe to this view myself"

Don't tell me, HRH was unaware he was playing to the house?

Maybe that's what gets the rocks off some racsists, but I had expected MORE of the Royalties

1 bad apple and the goodness of many falls

I am still heartened that (THANK GOD!) MY sultan is Selangor, and the words and actions of the good Raja Nazrin has won the hearts of all Malaysians.

I just feel sorry for the ppl of other states who can not enjoy what some of us can enjoy wholeheartedly ie Admiration of and Respect and Hormat to the Sultan

It will take more than just a change of leadership for UMNO to change direction.

I don't really think our racial divide is far more imminent and insidious. It's been the same all the while. It's like the US military policy... Don't ask, don't tell. Just act as if everything is all right in fairy tale land where everyone lives happily ever after. :-)

interesting loh!

people who got red ferrari free and easy, would want to remain in power so they continue get free newer ferrari, whenever FERRARI introduces one.

living and sleeping on tax-payers money all time high and low, who cares about people overall happiness and unity until such situation may affect the free flow of red ferrari given by "humble donor"...

only in malaysia; lou-bin-loot exists in every coner of the nation!

The election issues if one were to examine closely, main thrust was on Najib. Corrupt comission, Altantuya etc as mentioned by sdra Anwar in various ceramahs.

Why did pak Lah defended this guy Najib to the hilt? Now perhaps is payback time. Just wait for the hour when the stab from the back will happen.

Between Najib and Pak Lah rakyat prefers Pak Lah to continue (less the son in law and family influences of course).

Muhyuddin is trying to carve future higher prospects for ownself. Better if he tries his luck by contesting the Umno President`s post instead.

If HRH actually read a text prepared by someone else, it's either that he's oblivious of what he's reading, i.e. no thinking process went on when he's reading it, or he meant all the things that he was reading and wanted to ignite the Malay's racial hatred towards others..

aab should retaliate that never in bn/umno history had > 92% majority parliament seats, and he successfully achieved that in year 2004. and he even snatched back t'ganu that fell during tdm era (why that old man din resign when bn lost 2 states then). great leaders have good and bad times, and the year 2008 might be bad year for him (he should have consulted lilian too, he should hold election in 2007 or maybe 2009, he shouldn't dissolve parliament on 13 feb which was a bad luck day). who knows aab might make a comeback!

since this bakal dpm showed his true color, aab should not hesitate to SACK him. yes sack this Muhyiddin for good, kick him out of bn, he's another opportunist leaning on dpm...... and dpm said he supported aab, who the hell this Muhyiddin to make such suggestion. right now, umno/bn should stay united instead bickering for new succession. and such aab, time for him to show true leadership should sack these detractors!

Gan,

When there is not sufficient money to feed the parasites they would revolt internally and create external chaos. We must brace ourselves in anticipation.

Gobloking,

You don't need to threatened the prince for the issue wasn't to his disadvantage; you just need to incite him and maneuver him using rhetorics and the whole circumstances changes.

Helen,

Subtle divide and rhetorical and anarchical acts are not the same. We are divided but the situation is pushing the society to regroup and align into a clear segment of specific class of people which would lead to anarchy.

Ling Ling Chatt,

You no coin a new term: lou-bin-loot? Creative eh!!!

Sicko,

I think they are unravellings the pandora boxes.

Hopeful,

I think he agrees with the text.

Denzook,

AAB plays a different game from TDM. AAB have KJ, the schemer who is intelligent.
