Samy feels dejected; he saw it coming!

MIC president S Samy Vellu feels 'dejected' that MIC has been given the Human Resources Ministry instead of the Works Ministry.

Below is an abstract of an interview with Malaysiakini at the MIC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur yesterday:

"I feel very dejected. Although I know it is the prerogative of the prime minister. Previous prime ministers, even (current prime minister) Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has always thought about party seniority ... for the ministry."

"I think it is the work of the 'backroom boys' ... I know, I am definitely sure, it is these 'backroom boys' at work.

"I was never against Hindraf at any time. Originally, they portrayed themselves as working for the community, I said, 'Okay, anybody can work for the community, it is better for the community'.

"But in any case, it is not Waythamoorthy's order which (motivated) the people to vote. People voted for their stomach and for their pocket. Because they need to earn, they need to have better lives. I don't think Hindraf could do anything for the betterment of the community, they are not a political party, they are a social organisation.

"But they can all the time create trouble, but I think there will be a time when this will also come to an end because the youngsters are now trying to realise 'why did we do this?' 'what did we gain?' 'who benefits out of this?'

"The dissatisfaction is there. It was across the board. And the people thought 'we cannot convince the Barisan Nasional government to do anything for us'. They thought that the Barisan Nasional government does not care for MIC no matter how much noise we make. So 'let us give the vote to somebody (else) and let them make the noise'. This is what happened."

"I have been continuously fighting and I foresaw that this was going to happen. Six months before the elections, I went to the prime minister and told him 'I have a short programme for the next three years. Can you give some money so that we can boost the morale of the party among the Indians.'

"First he said, 'I'll look into it', later he said, 'No', he cannot give. So thereafter I thought, 'What can we do?'"

"I know that after the elections, our party is in disarray. A leader who runs away when the party is in disarray is no leader," he said.

The former works minister also stressed that it is the duty of a leader to put the house in order and examine what had went wrong."

When MCA lost the finance ministry post to UMNO, it's bye-bye forever. Looks like it is the same with MIC's works ministry this time. Ministry positions are a good reflection of where these parties stand in the coalition.

if he can blame the PM for the election defeat, of cause considering that the guy is about to resign, he must also take the responsibility for the MIC defeat.

but no, he say he is need to clean up the party and put it in order. what is useless fellow. if PM goes, he should go as well.

Anak Merdeka,

Ya, it's bye bye until Pakatan takes over the helm.

Gan,

We definitely will see a new Samy. He is truly an Indian champion today; he wasn't.

Helen,

We must accept that he knows; but he wasn't convinced.

Hopeful,

He is now the real Samy Vellu today; he wasn't.

Sammy, just retire la!!! Announce your retirement from MIC and let the new blood MIC takeover, fresh face to counter the FRESH Pakatan Rakyat MP. We want new blood vs new blood. You still staying around, will only drag down MIC. Just announce your retirement after the party election.

Samy can blame it on the PM and on God for all I care. Anybody can say anything as an afterthought. It is so easy.

As far as I am concerned, he thought he was invincible and was taught a lesson.

If he is sincere today, I am happy for the Indians.

And why is he unhappy with MIC getting the Human Resources Ministry? MIC is lucky. You reap what you sow. So if you believed in UMNO politics, this is what you get! But of course, there is less money to be made from the Human Resources Ministry compared to the Works Ministry. Everyone knows that.

MIM-KAS Economic Discourse
"Managing Multiracialism Through A New Economic Agenda"

by
YBhg Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim

Wednesday, 30 April 2008
8:00pm - 10:00pm
Malaysian Institute of Management,
Management House, 227 Jalan Ampang,
50450 Kuala Lumpur

INTRODUCTION
Malaysia’s unique selling point is in its multi-cultural populace. With 27 millions residents of Malay, Chinese, Indian, indigenous and other minority racial backgrounds, the Malaysian workforce which is multi-lingual, multi-cultural and which possesses a high degree of adaptability has more advantages than those in other homogenous society in dealing with the many challenges posed by an increasingly globalised world which caused for workers with multiple language and adaptability skills.

Since its independence from British colonial rule in 1957, Malaysia has become a model nation in the Asia Pacific region due to its people’s ability to rely on each other’s strengths. Its public policy coupled with strong leadership has driven Malaysia to become one of the most thriving nations in the newly democratised world.

How has Malaysia’s leadership exploited the nation’s rich human resource?

How has Malaysia’s economy been developed in the past 50 years and how shall it be developed into the next 50 years are questions most management leaders would ask.

Is what has been working in the past necessarily been useful for managing the future?

Is there a need for a new economic agenda? If yes, what should this new economic agenda be?

Samy say "I was never against Hindraf at any time"

ROFL. I just heard the minister refuse to renew Makkal Ossai permits, which report lots of hindraf movement.
