Mahathir gets a taste of his own poison?

The Cabinet has finally agreed to investige Dr Mahathir on allegations as identified in the Royal Commission of Inquiry report on the V.K. Lingam video clip.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Mohd Zaid Ibrahim said the cabinet has agreed that Dr Mahathir together with five others, lawyer Datuk V.K. Lingam, tycoon Tan Sri Vincent Tan, Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor and former Chief Justices Tun Eusoff Chin and Tun Ahmad Fairuz Sheikh Abdul Halim would face investigation for offences under the Sedition Act, Official Secrets Act and the Penal Code, which included obstruction of justice.

“All the recommendations in the report are advisory in nature so we have to have another investigation,” aid said.

The Commission of Inquiry's panel said the collective and cumulative actions of the main characters concerned had the effect of seriously undermining the independence and integrity of the judiciary as a whole.

Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail said he would go through the report before he decide whether to order a probe.

In the third term of reference, the commission found that there was direct influence by Lingam, Tan Sri Vincent Tan and Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor in the elevation of judges.

In particular, it was the appointment of Ahmad Fairuz as the chief judge of Malaya and subsequently as Court of Appeal president.

"In the circumstances, we do not find the denial by (then prime minister) Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad that he was not influenced by anyone to be entirely convincing," stated the report.

"There appeared to be deliberate efforts made on the part of Tan, Tengku Adnan and Lingam, collectively and/or individually to undermine (former chief justice) Tun Mohd Dzaiddin Abdullah's recommendation to the prime minister to appoint Malek Ahmad as CJM because they felt that he was, according to Lingam, 'anti-PM'."

Under the fourth term of reference, to determine whether misbehaviour had been committed, the commission found that "the collective and cumulative actions of the main character concerned, had the effect of seriously undermining and eroding the independence and integrity of the judiciary as a whole".

Under its fifth term of reference, to recommend the appropriate action, the commission stated there was sufficient cause to invoke certain laws, including the Sedition Act 1948, the Prevention of Corruption Act 1961, the Legal Profession Act 1976, the Official Secrets Act 1972 and the Penal Code against some of the principals involved.

When summoned by the court, the old son-of-a-mamak-gun will just pretend to be ill like Suharto did from 1998 to 2007.

Do you really think that is Dr M's 'POISON'?

Cheng,

It will take Mahathir to answer this question.

I had observed that man for more than 22 years; he did many things good but he did single-handledly crack the system administration with his whims.

that will keep TDM busy for quite a while and leave AAB free for other matters,....

"THEY" will not pin anything on TDM. If they do, then they are setting a precedent for others to do unto them etc

If they can hush up on the little napoleons like satayzak, they will hush up on the bigger fish.

IMHO, even I don't like Dr.M, I admire his way to cover all his track records with all sort of proxy, middleman, etc.

For almost ALL the wrong doing, e.g. international tin speculation, BNM huge loses on forex in Brith pound speculation, etc, TheMan (or T.M.) never hands on, he just instruct.

So for the lingam case, I suspect it is yet another Pak Lah populist way. You just cannot find any wrong doing from TheMan. If is something call ethically/virtue incorrect, but procedural correct.

And don't forget, when he execute those ideas/plan that land into many white elephant/taint the system, he have the WHOLE UMNO and BN behind it. So the "helper" are as sinful as TheMan.

Hello Maverick SM ! I have tried to phone Wee Choo Keong as you suggested but I just can't get through because the phone is engaged all the time. Is it possible to have YB Wee to ask a question in Parliament which to my mind is reletaed to the V K Lingam tapes.

It is a fact that the respondents Wong Kem Chen & Stephen Lim are blood brothers of Tan Sri Vincent Tan and Judge Zainon binti Mohd. Ali was promoted to the Bench of the Court of Appeal when Vincent was influential with Tun Mahatir. I am sure that Zainon binti Mohd. Ali was elevated to the court of appeal on the same sort of corrupt practise.

I have tried to contact Wee Choo Keong but is it possible for hem to email me at ychongyee@yahoo.com.au or tel. (08) 93302547 ?

Thank you very much Maverick SM. I have also asked YB Teresa Kok to pblige me by asking the same question that I had posted to her; and the same question that I will be eternally grateful if YB Wee Choo Keong will ask for me. It does not matter who asks the question so long as somebody ask the question. Is Pakatan Rakyat not committed to uncovering corruption in the Judiciary ? That is the issue, if Pakatan Rakyat is out to remove corruption in the judiciary then corrupt Judges too must be UPROOTED FROM THE SYSTEM. I have posted my request to YB Teresa and the same question I ask YB Wee Choo Keong to ask in Parliament.

Dear Miss Teresa Kok,

Re : Originating Petition No. D2-26-41 OF 2001 ;
Lim Choi Yin v. McLaren Saksama (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd

Forgive me for bothering you to ask a question in Parliament for me. I understand that my first request was a question that was too complicated and I fully appreciate that the question was not properly framed.

Will you ask this question in the form that is framed herein :

QUESTION TO ASK IN PARLIAMENT

“I refer this house to the matter :
Re: Originating Petition No. D2-26-41 OF 2001 ;
Lim Choi Yin v. McLaren Saksama (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd
My question to this house is, “how was it possible for Judge zainon binti Mohd. Ali to make an order for security for costs, and when Petitioner had paid Rm.60,000 as security for costs, Judge Zainon binti Mohd. Ali went further and followed up later to make a totally conflicting order to strike out said Petition, even without a court order to set aside said order for security for costs ? “

To,

Dato Zaid Ibrahim, Minister of Law
Putra Jaya, Malaysia,

Dear YANG AHMAD BERHORMAT,

Re: Re : Originating Petition No. D2-26-41 OF 2001 ;
Lim Choi Yin v. McLaren Saksama (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd

I quote from Malaysiakini from the report of the Lingam Tape scandal :

“A recommendation by the Lingam tape royal commission of inquiry for Dr Mahathir Mohamad and five others to be investigated over their role in the appointment of judges received a warm welcome from several NGOs today.”

I further quote from a statement of Tun Dr. Mahatir’s from the same source :

'I want them to charge me in court. Only then will I have the opportunity to expose more conflicts faced by the judges, including those who have implicated me.'

There you have it Dato Sri Zaid Ibrahim; from the horse’s mouth; Tun as much as saying, “if you charge me I will have more of the scandal that implicates those who control the government. Is it about Abdul Bedawi, Is it about Najib, IS IT ABOUT MY NEMESIS DATO ZAINON BINTI MOHD. ALI IS IT ABOUT ALL THOSE SERVING IN THE GOVERNMENT ? What a kettle of stinking fish in the barrel; one crook threatening all the crooks that if you charge me I will spill the beans on all of you.

IF I MAY BE ALLOWED TO SPECULATE, THIS IS WHAT PAKATAN WILL RIDE ON THE CREST OF THE WAVE.

Well, our gallant Minister of Law have it all served on his plate; so far everything he has been excellent, he has revealed the full content of the Royal commission report, but it is what he does with it that is important. I don’t know if this Mahatir fellow is as smart as they make him out to be, but he has except in details, has said as much that he knows what lies below the tip of the iceberg. Will Dato Sri Zaid Ibrahom going to go through with DOING THE RIGHT THING ? Will he go for the jugular so to speak; it means that he will have to charge the “5” named in the report.

It is now Tun Mahatir’s turn to blackmail PM Bedawi to spill the beans. What a holy mess we are in. my, my ! actions speak louder than words.

Sincerely,

Yap Chong Yee

PS, This is an issue that PM Bedawi can profit hugely because the size of the scandal is so big that debate and ongoing controversies will displace the call for Bedawi to resign. Beautiful bonous for PM Bedawi.

Jefus,

I don't think so; TDM will now create sensation and racial overtones to guard his own safety.

Gobloking,

I tend to agree with you; but its now in the hands of one man, AG.

Moo_t,

We are going to see instigations and racial overtones from TDM.

Yapchongyee,

You are so relentless; they had to get you.
