Civil Servants ask to get 2nd job to meet rising costs

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Senator Tan Sri Amirsham A. Aziz says Civil Servants and any other Malaysians who now faced financial problems as a result of high inflation and the rising cost of food and fuel must now get after-office or weekend jobs to supplement their income.

He said the government is now encouraging civil servants to work part-time, after office hours and on weekends.

They can work as taxi drivers after office hours, telemarketeers, insurance agents, newspaper vendors, sell nasi lemak, or in the worst case scenario, as beggars.

For the Chinese girls, they can work as nightclub hostess, public relation officers (GRO) at karaokes, or as sleeping partners in unconventional organizations (non sendirian and non berhad).

For Chinese men, they can work as security officers with Ah Loong, work as bouncers at karaokes, or work as VCD/DVD peddlers or even as OKT.

For the benefit of some, who disputed the fact that Petronas did not subsidize, of course not directly, but factually.

Shahrir said Petronas money is used to subsidize petrol, agriculture, education, welfare, and now part of the money is also used to subsidize food.

“Ever since the fuel price increase was announced, people have been demanding to know why Petronas is not helping out. What they don’t know is that the company has been helping out all this while.

“The Government, on the other hand, pays from its coffers to petrol companies as fuel subsidy. This is also being enjoyed by Petronas,” Shahrir told reporters.

"Let me assure you of that it was important to lift or reduce subsidy so as to discourage wastage and to give higher value to the assets or commodity," Shahrir said.

“I am of the opinion the public is not appreciative of the value of goods because they need not pay the actual price. Subsidy has led to wastage. Now, with lesser subsidy, people will tend to be more careful about how they use goods like petrol because they have to pay more.”

sure, i a going to cut the computer class for my 2 kids and that will save me about RM600 per month. gee, if computer classes are considered wastage, then the recent petrol hike would have done a perfect job.
we can still live without this "wastage". I am wondering how are those families earning less than 2,000 a month with two kids in KL and other cities coping? just to stay afloat, i reckon they would have no choice but to moonlight. juxtapose that with the headlines that ministers are going to cut 10% of entertainment expenses (there is stil 90% to throw away) and all-paid-for holidays now restricted to Asean countries. Let me tell you, a family for four can set the country easily by RM50,000 for a week of all-expense paid holidays in Asean. What empathy for suffering ordinary malaysians.

The Rakyat finds it harder to make ends meet, while the fat crony cat gets fatter! In order for the rakyat to survive, we MUST kick BN out!

To add fuel(Rm2.70/lt.)to fire. Our angkasawan Dr Sheikh Muszaphar was quoted in todays NST hardcopy version(it was edited out in the emedia website):

"Besides contributing to the scientific field, I also contributed artistically by composing poetry and wearing batik in space."

That's our income tax money you are wasting, bloody shiok sendiri bastard!!

Hello bro Amisham , easy to say but easy to do . First did it urself and then feel the pain thereafter propose to rakyat. We all suffering and do not give us more burden. What is Malaysian Labor act working hours ! U want us to work more hours and all the additional income pay for government mis-management.We vote to ensure our life improve. If can't do the administration, just give up and hand over to other who are willing to do it. Do not tell us the government have to subsidy everything and all the time. Yeah this the job of government administrator. Otherwise why we need a politician that willing to represent rakyat. Pls work for rakyat and not for the government.
We are the government and not only specified person.
Hope that there will not addtional burden to rakyat esp lower income people. We already suffer at the moment and hope ur burden will be improve. We only request to improve the oil subsidy and not to remove the oil subsidy.

Yok Hoong,

Don't cut your kids class, please!

The ministers have agreed to further cut their entertainment allowance and reduce their oversea expenses; it is under consideration and pending Umno's approval in December. Let's be patient as Umno will try to help; presumably!

Qwerty,

Muszaphar is only telling the truth of what he actually did; he is honest!

Bunnies,

If you don't have the size and built to be a bouncer, then sign up with a Gym and start your excerise; the fees is only $1,000 a month and you can be ready by 12 months.

Jefus,

Well, the ministers have promise that they will be their customers; and their families too; all paid under the entertainment allowance.

Bad enough the present day civil servants do not contribute a honest day's job, and complaints of inefficiency, indifference and just could not care attitude is prevalent.

If encouraged to a bit on the side, there will be mayhem, no service from them.

If one is not able to meet one`s montlhy expenses because one`s earning is less than required, what does one do? Sit, wacth tv and sleep and do nothing? or one does something to supplement one`s income if one is able?

It isnt like it is impossible to carry out a second job because thousands are doing it even before this fuel subsidy issue cropped up a few days ago.

Its a choice. Do something or do nothing.

Bill Gate said, complement of SM, "if you die poor, its your mistake"! And I agree with him. I am not going to find any excuse for my failings and failures or if I die poor
The choice is mine to make. I can choose to be content with my X income or I can choose to do something about my income etcetc

i dont read NST coz I have not stop boycotting the paper since the suit against Jeff and Rocky.
Contribution by wearing batik and writing poetry in space. Its must be the gravity that gets into his brains, if he has any in the beginning. And to throw a hundred million for all these to show?
Truly Malaysia Boleh.

i think i might as well sell chee fah for flexitime in my part-time job.

I have long cease to be amaze by what comes out of these politicians' mouth or their antics.

Maverick SM said...

Beeranyone,

Well, 3rd job is also ok as long as you can earn more.

R.V.David,

I may not agree with you; there are many civil servants who work as cabbies and are not lazy in their work. I think this initiative will help them earn a bit more income to pay for the extra costs.

Warrior2,

I do agree that those who have financial crunches should try to find an extra income with a 2nd job. And the Bill Gates advice, I do subscribed to it too.

Yok Hoong,

Let's accept that he said it in all honesty. If it is true, I don't think there's anything wrong. He is up there for a mission which he did perform and this could be his other activities, outside his official duty. Whatever he had achieved, the programme organizer must be responsible and made responsible.

CK,

I read your posting.

KJ,

Sell chee fah is a good idea.

Gan,

Well, it is important to know what they think and what they intent to do and say.

u mean they are not doing it already?

Maverick SM said...

Zewt,

This time it is approved to do so; any previous acts are illegal.

Previously moonlighting was illegal. Now it is legal. And we are still doing the same thing - working our ass out.

What a stupid government!

Got job like BMC one or not? Can bash ppl out and later charge them with attempted murder. I am hungry for blood! lol

Maverick SM said...

Bayi,

At least there is such an opportunity; now civil servants can work hard if they want to.

Hasilox,

You have to join Taliworks to get that job; it's high pay.

Anonymous said...

Is this mean they are given "license for collecting duit kopi"?

Just imagine paying duit kopi for EVERY government work.

Anonymous said...

Watch it people ...

Before you know it this brain-dead will be telling us to get a third and fourth job because he and his colleagues in the cabinet have no clue as to what to do for the rakyat.

Is it too much for us to tell the ministers to do their one job well?

Hei ministers, how about you guys taking a salary cut and get a second job yourselves instead of wasting our money going for holidays and indulging in "melawat sambil belajar" to far away and expensive countries?

Is this what you guys have learnt all this while and giving us this stupid advice?

A bunch of monkeys.

Maverick

I wouldnt be surprise to see Minister and Wives selling themselves will join the crowd in open market too.

The UGLY ones will attract the ugly market, while the DARING will of course go for sleazy business.

With more Rakyat having ZERO trust on the Gomen servants, they cannot afford any more to rob the people on broad day light as before.

Their caskets are ready awaiting at 'massage' parlours!

WTF, most gomen servant are as useless as their leaders; dont we all seen enough?

Maverick SM said...

Moo_t,

I think your statement is unfair; it has never been every govt works; maybe some; but I think we can't say that everyone is doing that. I agree there are various occasions that we are unduly influenced to act at such in order to get things done, but it is not absolute nor precise.

Ewoon,

Ministers already are doing more than one job; in fact they are multiple; they are law-makers, law-breakers, connectors, networkers, consultants, commissioners, pastors, busters, predators, etc, etc.

You see, they are extremely exhausted.

Oris,

I think it is contemptuous to classify every civil servant as useless; that is unfair, unjustifiable and notorious. There are some who are useless and there are some who are very hardworking and courteous. Let's be fair to them. We can be angry but our anger does not extend to humiliate everyone. I hope you will understand.
