They arrest Anwar at 1pm because the police were worried that he will not show up at 2pm at IPK.
"He was arrested as we had reason to believe he was not going to show up. We wish to point out that Anwar had initially agreed to meet us on Monday but failed to keep his appointment," Federal CID director Bakri Zinin.
Deputy Home Minister Datuk Wan Farid Wan Salleh said Anwar was supposed to have gone straight to the police headquarters here after his interview at the Anti Corruption Agency in Putrajaya.
“Instead, he was on his way home. He couldn’t possibly have made it on time.
“The police were just executing a warrant of arrest against Anwar,” he told reporters in the Parliament lobby on Wednesday.

So, it's pre-emptive strike, is it?
At the parliamentary afternoon session today, Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir said he believed that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was involved in "doing such things."

So, Anwar is guilty before proven innocence under the code of conduct set by Mukhriz, isn't it?
Tomorrow the police would be going after Raja Petra who would be charged for criminal defamation.
Who else would they go after? We'll have to wait!
These events would likely trigger more demonstrations and uncertainties which would cause the foreign investors and fund managers to take cover. The stock market reacted in tandem.

i have one question to ask and if this doesnt prove that this arrest of DSAI is politically motivated , I dont know what is!!!
I ask you this, from Merdeka 1957 up to now, can you tell me how many Malaysian males have been arrested for the crime of sodomising another man (lets leave alone conviction).
Just tell me how MANY Malaysians !!!!
ZERO!!!!! Other than Datuk Seri!!!!
Not politically motivated???? 51 years from 1957 to 2008!!!!ZERO!!!!!!
statistically speaking, it is an IMPOSSIBILITY to arrest and convict a person of such a crime when for 51 years theres NO SINGLE ARREST!!!!!!!!!!
What's your problem? If tomorrow, some young yuppy wannabe politician lodged a police report on your for buggering his backside, wouldn't the police come over and take you in for questioning?
Police don't 'ask' you to come in for clarification. And I do not see why there should be special treatment accorded to Anwar.
So police wants to take him into custody for questioning. No big deal. He's a big boy. Do la.
If the police have the evidence, then they would arrest him and charge him in court with 24 hours. There again, its just a process of law. Plea not guilty, post bail and wait for the trial la. Apa susah, macam la tak tau procedure.
The rest of us, stop being a sucker. Distractions, distractions. The real problem is still up there laughing and scheming away till 2010.
typical and expected. they can say anything.
Murkiz is a son of his father who judged Anwar before he was arraigned in court, so he is repeating the same script. That's how buffoons behave and originality is not their art since they already denied their heritage and put on a Malay shirt. Mamaks. Huh!
Next debate will between DSAI vs Mukriz Mamak Kutty. Like mother like son (emak borek anak rintik).
BOTAK
CK,
You point shoot straight.
Botak,
I hope we can have more debates to better understand the quality of these politicians.
Apparently, AAB run out of ALL the idea to get more support.
He is just using Anwar and RPK as a "example" to show UMNO about the consequences of "rebel". And he also want to kill few birds in 1 stone, e.g. dwindle economy, rising inflation, degrade living standard, incompetence governance, deteriorate education, jobless on the rise, etc.
I agree with some blogger, AAB sleep in his administration doesn't mean he is stupid. Silence dog can kill.
Moo_t,
I don't think AAB is involved in this conspiracy, if ever it exist. Some others ... probably!
In my opinion, AAB would never do such despicable act personally unless someone elese acted in his name.
I hope the bumbling person by the initials AAB knows that he is THE PM of Malaysia and he has a country to take care of.
So for f*ck's sake..wake up. The country is on autopilot to destruction..food prices up, stock market down, fund managers dumping...
What Mukhriz said is only his opinion. Everybod has one. I have one. Mav have 1.
No big deal. Its not a sin to have an opinion.
