Protest Rally - a project failure

To me, the rally was a failure!

How could the organizer have such rock entertainment shows at a rally that is suppose to express the sentiments of the people who are angry with the fuel price hike?

You don't invite pop divas to sing at a funeral, do we? Maybe, the Chinese would invite scantily clad girls to sing at a ghost festival, not in a funeral assembly.

It is just unacceptable that the singer would show off his boxer-underpants to the crowd who are not there to celebrate a carnival; they are there to support the initiatives of public expressions of disappointments with the fuel hike and to tell the govt to look into their plight.

PKR and PR have to act and be a responsible political institution if they are to earn the respect and trust of the people.

mave,
where did you get the news? i mean which newspapers?

i red that 700 anggota unit amal PAS tarik diri, same goes with Nurhidayaty Maidin writing.

the organizer should be sensitive as well. shouldn't let the other side takes this to their advantage to backfire.

Mave,

Before you decide on PKR (as usual), you should know the Rally was entirely organised by a Dr Hatta Ramli who was the Head of GERAMM and the Chief Organiser. Furthermore, it was PAS which maintained order by sending hundreds of AMAL troopers. Should there have been any unwanted invitee, they should have decided against and PR leaders arrived at night and not during the day when Hatta and gang were in charge and all the divas and others entertained the masses.

Coming to the "funeral" analogy, yes, you have got to celebrate even in death so that you appreciate the higher purpose of life. And let's not getty petty here by focusing on petty issues that neither serve Islam nor the truth. I'm quite aghast at how certain people seem to be losing the plot.

The rally itself is not that well-organized.
and it was suppose to represent the public disappointment towards the petrol hike.
Hmm, does this in a way reflects the PR way of handling a given situation.
Besides not all of the PR coalition came...where's PAS?
did they suppose to participate too?
Another reflection perhaps on how PR is actually?...a coalition of three parties, with different ideology and standing.
Wonder how they are going to rule the country as one.

Suealeen,

The news is from The Star. The pictures are from the blogs at Flickrs.

The organizers are treating this event as a carnival.

Malaysian,

My opinion is that the project is considered a failure. They should have considered all aspects for the rally event. I think we just can't blame Dr Hatta alone.

what purpose did it serve to bring in these morons in the first place? were the people there for entertainment? even if these morons had not acted in such a disgraceful way, by merely having them performing at such an event is a diversion from the true purpose of the rally itself, which is to address serious issues plaguing our country??!

Maverick SM said...

Powerlogic,

Dr Hatta is PAS and there are many others from PAS. Your reflection is frivolous as it is more geared towards your dogmas.

Anon 2:25pm,

You are right; that is what I expect of commentators; you focus on the issue itself. The event's objective us to voice the frustrations about the fuel hike and the plights of the people who are facing the financial strains.

Mav

for me the rally was a success. this is because no untoward incident happened and that everyone knew someone who is unhappy with the increase.

how often can u find a total stranger and share that u and him has the same issues with the present barang naik?

wow i really need to start a blog

Shiver,

If you view it that way, you are correct. I view it in a project management viewpoint.

I won't conclude on the funeral things. Because there is so many culture in the world.E.g., New Orleans Jazz Funeral.

But for the protest, it is deem to failed due to its shallow agenda.

Maverick SM said...

Jefus,

I totally agree with you. Perfect!!!

Moo_t,

I agree on the cultural aspects; and I too believed that the event is a failure; total failure.

I think UMNO and its Trojans must have sabotage the Rally, by getting participation into Rally Committee. Imagine, if Saifool The Asshole can enter PKR easily, what more the Rally Committee.

Mat Rempit is just another living carcasses that now damaging PR and looking at the Singer, he does one that belongs to Mat Rempit a.k.a. Mat Bontott!

He must have been paid by Ezam and Azzezzz to act like MONKEY BOY against Condoleeza Rice, once upon a time. Remember???? Money can really make MONKEY talks like MONKEY BOY.

Please give PKR and PR some benefit of doubt; they are infants and Kapersky anti-virus is limited to them, let alone C4.

Give them a Break lah!

There are many non-Muslims who are there and they need entertainment, do we tell them to go to hell? Hooi...Even Muslims want to enjoy. If one or two misbehaved, that's doesn't mean the whole thing is wrong or failure.

i personally don't see the rally as a successful feat.
It didn't really deliver what it intended to achieve and at the end the highlight of the rally was not the ways to beat petrol hike but the expose of a certain singer's butt.

Wahai penyokong2 Anwar sekelian,
Patut la unit amal PAS tarik diri awal2 lagi...

Just like BN punya rhetoric. Lagu, akademi fantasia, jom heboh style and carnival activities.

Can they (Pakatan) be serious. 100days honeymoon has passed, beside bickering and crossover advertisements by Anwar, can you guys do something better.

Let me put it in Kelantanese Malay- That menate rock singer is paid to drop his pants to shame the organisers and of course the PR leaders.

The name of the band really describes the singer- Dung Najis or Tahi!
Go and sell your bloody stinking arse elsewhere!

THE RALLY WAS GOING RATHER SMOOTHLY... AND WHAT MAKE YOU PEOPLE THINK IT WAS NOT THE YOU-KNOW-WHO DECIDED TO 'PAY' THAT GUY TO CAUSE A RUCKUS.

DEAR HOMO,

IF THERE IS ANY TRUTH IN WHAT YOU JUST SAID & WHAT WE SAW IN THE STADIUM WITH OUR BLURRY EYESIGHTS...

MAN, YOUR'RE RIGHT, THERE ARE PLENTY OF PUNKS, MATREMPITS & HOMOSEXUALS IN THEIR 50s, 60s & EVEN 70s... SOME OF THESE MISFITS ARE STILL IN THEIR PAMPERS.

.....SWEETMARY

Maverick SM said...

Oris,

Why blame others when the group are invited by the organizer? If the organizer are faulty or ignorant, they pay the price now.

Homo,

You are probably not there and ignorant or you are closing your mind to knowledge and empirical reality.

Bluementos,

I agree with your statement.

TokMat,

Your points are valid.

Looks like BN,

You are right; PR had to do something much more better and beneficial to the rakyat, than just this stupidity.

SweetMary,

I don't think it is fair to create another conspiracy theory from this event fracus. The fact is clear - the organizer failed.

I think PAS people is the most consistent in their struggle. They against the rise in fuel price but they cannot tolerate with the bad show by that singer. Thay are very high integrity. See when their Unit Amal not in charge, the trafic flow worsen.

the PR's credibility has just plunged to great new lows. And the 27 over NGO's were strongly opposing the presence of armed forces? what had started out as a good initiative, to collectively channel to the government the plight of the people is a good thing, but this is just hanging onto something and anything for the sake of being seen and heard doing something. To say that they're betraying the hope that the ppl have put in them isn't too stern a thing to say.

Anonymous said...

I certainly feel the whole event defeated the whole purpose and "pure" intention of it all. And the butt-showing antics certainly did not do much to impress. Probably this is not the image PR is planning to convey to the public, I shall say it is quite bad publicity.

And I have asked even from before, is this event to create awareness, a political boycott campaign, turun minyak kempen (yeah right, like it would help) or merely a carnival? More like an angsty teenage fest to me.

Anonymous said...

for an issue of this gravity, maybe it would have been appropriate for them to hold a mourning instead. nothing fancy, just a gathering of ppl, mourning over the state of our world and the country. silent speaks more impact sometimes. but sadly, the PR will never do something as peaceful as that, then there'd be no news and they cannot hang onto the limelight.

Anonymous said...

I think people are now starting to tire of mass protests. Once, twice is a good way to show displeasure with the Government and push them into action. But nowadays, these protest seem to be used as a tool for political gain rather than a just cause.

Add in a band called Carburettor Dung and you have a fiasco. Where on earth would you find such a band. Seriously....

Increase in prices are inevitable. All countries such as Singapore, Thailand, US, UK face the same issues. But the key issue is not how to reduce prices, but help the poor to get through these dificult times, not subsidising for everything. Someone who comes up me and says that he is going to reduce petrol prices, when everywhere i travel to prices are increasing doesn't make much sense to me. Yes Malaysia is a net exporter of oil, but not for long.

My advice to PR is to stop giving dates when they are forming the new government, stop telling people they have evidence....instead JUST DO IT..if you have the numbers form the government FORM IT...if you have the evidence SHOW IT. PRs credibility decreases everyday. Because at the end of the day, it is the rakyat that will suffer when there is political uncertainty, not anyone else.

I just feel that arguing over who sodomised who/sworn statutory declarations etc will not benefit the rakyat. Most likely we will see the economic downturn worsening over the coming months, we should be prepaing for that instead.

Dont get me wrong, i am not anti-PR. In fact 3 months ago, i was happy to see that the Malaysian political climate was finally changing. Yes, I was one of the rakyat who stayed up late to see the results and could not but feel happy.

PR has been given a strong mandate by the rakyat, in the context of Malaysian Politics. USE IT, and show us that PR has the ability to govern the 5 states effectively, before thinking of forming a new government.

And if you have to oraganize another rally, please do it well..its not good publiclity if you can't even organize a rally in a Stadium.

Anonymous said...

The number one observation I have made about PR all this while (from the big shot leaders at least) is that they are really good (maybe REALLY good) at putting ideas in the people's heads. I mean they can, because they are not the Fed Govt, they can say whatever they want right now. But wil it happen if they ever take hold of the govt? I dont know.

They have to be cautious that people are more sceptical of words, especially so when people are angry with the BN, so now is not the time to plant meaningless words and ideas in our heads.

Yes, it is a project failure, it seems more like a carnival. Plus the organizer can't handle and control their crowd(tnjuk pungkoq).

My opinion, it is a good start!

At least, there is no chemical being spray & tear gas cannister!

Of course, I hope the organizer will be more careful on the selection of their guests....

Hello mave,

I agree with you. To me, it was a complete failure. The organizer invited rock bands with improper behavior attitude which implicates the image of the PR generally.

Their claim of 1 million people to support them for the protest, yet only less then 10,000 crowds attend. Where are the remaining zeroes?

Administrating a government with just reducing the price of fuel? Come on, the PR have to be more capable than that to administrate a country.

Finally, yes indeed they should be responsible in their political constitution act if they are to earn the respect and trust of the people.

some might said its a complete failure and some might said what matter most its the strong msg that rakyat wanna put acrossed..

with all these tensions surronds us its ok to have a lill bit of entertainment .i do agree..its improper for the singer to behave in such despicable manner and he ought to apologised to the people publicly ..

For that matter in future the organizer has to be very careful n be more sensitive to public sentiments ..
anyway damage has been done ..
just learn from the incident n i do hope in future rallies such things wont happen again .

I've read (elsewhere) some ppl trying to blame these rockers for this fiasco. Wrong. Hey, they are a rock band doing what they are supposed to do. So blame the organisers who invited them.
Hmm, mave, somewhere in this there is a lesson on how hard it is to govern a country like msia.
Hmmm.

Maverick SM said...

You may be right; the organizers did not consider that they are rockers only; and they wear boxers undies.
