i-Dola & Jean-i computeredized

1 Aug 2008, The Star; page N31

3 months from now, Malaysians will be able to buy the i-Dola laptop and Jean-i personal computer for only RM500.

Mimos is now ready to licence the production of the Malaysian computer codenamed Mak Cik.

The laptop and PC are named after the Prime Minister and his wife.

eh?!! i find the naming of these products after the PM and his Missus hilarious ... dunno why!! and for RM500 ... makes me wonder about the quality of the product ... maybe the kind that gives flip-flop performance?? hari ni boleh pakai, besok tak leh!!

self-glorification to the extreme. well, that's what a "under achieved" leader usually does, not really a surprise though.

btw, if the pc's really that price and slightly smaller than laptop (bigger than pda), I probably buy it even is low quality - can self dissect and modify it for my own use.

syiok sendiri only..how come lenovo, dell, hp cannot make it and malaysia can do it.

This I-dola laptop do not have hard disk lah... really "no brain" one kah ? Sound familiar, Mr. PM ... Come on lah .. if u really want to design some new laptop ,pls put in some "brain" lah..we don't mind to spend a little bit more money, at least we definitely won't keep getting the error message : "Saya Tidak Tahu..Saya Tidak Tahu..."

They both have only one mode each. i-dola has only hibernation mode and jean-i housekeeping mode. lol

Ayoyo...arse-licking of the highest order...

Then again this administration has a morbid interest in the lower posterior parts of the anatomy...

Hi All,

Just thinking that the signs are not very encouraging. No HD and wonder what sort of chips and software they are loading on it...

It doesn't really seem feasible to me...

PM's popularity already dipping. I wonder if buying one of these would make me unpopular too!

really stupid to name after these two `mangkuk` .. i thought of getting one but when i read that its going to named that i immediately drop the idea ...

When Anwar becomes PM, will the computer be renamed i-anwar?

Anonymous said...

Yup, no restart or quit option on the I-DOLA..only perpetual sleep mode..the upgraded version might have a flip-flop monitor.

JEAN-I? I think I'll just wait for i-rosmah; I hear it's got an explosive performance!

Kong-kay,

You have a good suggestion but Mimos had decided.

Denzook,

You have a good point. I have no knowledge about the new pc and I do not know what it can do and can't do. I can only presumed that if it is only RM500 it may not have many of the necessary features. It may just end up like an organizer or a emailing tool with capability to do spreadsheets and document writings. I have to find out.

Artchan,

We won't know why the big guys aren't producing such product; I presumed it may not be commercially viable.

Raymond,

Is it true that it did not have hardisk or it uses external hardisk?

Hasilox,

You damn funny guy!!!

Kittykat46,

?????

Avatar,

It can be feasible but it may not be able to do as much as users want it to be, as we are used to the products such as Laptop which have all the necessary features such as office softwares, emailing, wifi and internet connectivity, big storage disk (now we have 1 terabyte HD), music, etc, etc.

Coolbert,

hahaha..it may!

DONT EVER EVER THINK OF BUYING PRODUCT OR SERVICES THAT CARRY NAMES LIKE
'DOLLAH' 'DOLAR' 'JEAN' 'JEANNIE' OR EVEN 'JAMBAN'. THESE PRODUCTS WILL WORK OR PROCESSES AS SLOW AND PRESENTS ITSELF IN AS UGLY CONDITION AS THE NAMES CARRIES.

WANNA FACTS, LOOK AT PAK LAH & BUTLER JEAN!

WTF!!!

The PM and his wife shouldn't have consented to let their names be used in this case. Does them more damage than good. And if the computers turn out to be a (flip) flop, there will be no turning back. Where are the spin doctors? At best this is a cheap and desperate exercise for some publicity to shaore up the PM's sagging popularity.

1. is this apple polishing or is this apple polishing?

2. the price of computers is already at cut throat level to bring / quote at such a price can only mean two possibilities. a, nothing more than a fancy calculator, or b, subsidized in some way.

3. it is an affront / insult for level thinking Msians to even consider having one.

4. there is no such thing as a free lunch, so, grow up,.....

Bayi,

You could be right. I think Mimos may change the name again.

Jefus,

It may be apple-policing.

instead of clapping, cynicism abound. there is hardly any credibility left in this administration.thats why.
by the way, RM500 computer seems far fetched, aint it?
