D-Day: Time's Up! Will it happen? Good or Bad news?

Anwar: We've more than 31 defectors

Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim insisted he has in excess of 31 government defectors and call on Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi not to implement emergency rule during the takeover.

At a packed press conference at 2pm today, he urged the ruling Barisan Nasional to commit to a peaceful handover of the government and not resort to emergency rule.

“We want a peaceful transition. We hope that Barisan will not put up emergency rule to stop MPs from going to Parliament or arrest (government) MPs or stop them from joining Pakatan Rakyat,” he said.

He has sought a meeting with Abdullah to show him the list of names of defectors and to discuss a smooth handover.

Anwar will need at least 31 defectors from BN and perhaps over 40 to form a stable Pakatan Rakyat government.

Is it true?

Is it a good news or bad news?

Let's pray that this nation will remain in peace, whatever that can happen or has to happen.

Let us also pray for Pak Lah that he remain calm and peaceful. Amen!

Meanwhile, the crude oil price has drop to US$91.00 and expected to drift down further in the coming days.

Anwar revealed the latest number,31,but remain mum on the names of the defectors.

Anwar want to take over the country but he set some rules to the federal govt so that the power handover will be in a peaceful way.

i dont know what is in Anwar's mind right now.i dont know what to say if it's right or not for Anwar to set such rules.

i also have no clue whatsoever on how on earth Pak Lah gonna deal with this.

this is such a huge news right now.gigantic.

If Anwar really has the numbers, then he should ask for parliament to convene and he can then push for a motion of no -confidence against the prime minister.

To act accordingly towards the verdict of the no-confidence, the speaker of the house will then have to refer to the Agong.

Anwar should follow the proper way that is written in our constitution and laws and not by threatening the current federal govt and the Prime Minister to surrender.

This Anwar is such a 'mystery' to me.
He's talking about wanting to take soft approach and talk to with the PM about the transition.
Now, these past few months, we have seen that he had done almost everything to bring the current government down. And suddenly when the time comes for him to deliver what he had promised, all that he can do is set 4 demands and say they are opting for peaceful approach.
Wtf.
Why suddenly he changed his approach?..
Is this one of Anwar's little plan to trap the minds of rakyat?..well, when the gov refused to accept his 4 demands then he'll start saying that the goverment is preventing him from doing the right thing. That he fears for the lives of the 31 MPs..etc.
I can enough of watching and waiting for Anwar to really come clean and tell us his real intentions.
Which is unlikely... i know.
So i guess i just have to do with watching and waiting again.

Hello Mave ! Long time no see ! I hate to criticise redbag & cuomo but they have no idea what they are talking about. Dato Seri Anwar has been in politics for a very long time and he knows what a trememdous task he is now facing even since he has the numbers. IT IS NOT EASY TO TAKE POWER FROM UMNO INCUMBENT, especially in Malaysia where the sanctity of rule of law is so thin, almost non existent is more correct.

Of course he has the numbers, but it is that fact that will make UMNO contrive ways to impose martial law and emergency rule. I am not politically savy, but I think emergency rule is on the cards, although I hope that there will be a smooth transition. My bet is there will be trouble within these two weeks.

UMNO will not relinquish power in a civilised manner and if I may say so, I believe a coup d'tate is around the corner.

Q33NY,

This is politics and in politics the winner is about strategic mind games.

cuomo,

The game of politics is about deception and shrewdness.

Redbag,

A strategic player in the political forum must be mysterious.

Yap Chong Yee,

You know better than I do; however, that seems to be the peoples' hope.

mavericky martin,

Orang macam ini nak jadi PM? Kalau bukan, orang macam apa?

i think it is best the two opposing camp (DSAI and AAB) to sort out a peaceful handover. The King should be involved. Even after the handover, the BN will still has a role to play. Lost once doesnt mean forever. Be graceful in defeat and victory. That is the mark of a gentle and great man.
