UMNOs' Talent Defined

Rais Yatim Posted by Hello

Rais Yatim Remarks May Spark Reaction Within UMNO.

Jelebu Umno division chief Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim, a former ally of Tengku Razaleigh, said it was not likely that the former president of the now-defunct Parti Semangat 46 or anyone else would challenge Abdullah for the top post. He said there might be those with a “great appetite” who might want to contest the president's post but they would not be able to secure the required nominations.

“In Umno, there are many talents. Some can be categorised as TALENT FOR DISASTER. There are also talents who want to be in the Government and those who want positions,” Dr Rais, who is Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister, told newsmen in Kuala Terengganu.

TALENT FOR DISASTER - WHAT A GREAT WORD TO USE. Maybe, Rais should elaborate further so that we can understand better. He may be right, looking at the current Ministers and Political Leaders that keep the system mulfunctioning and at sub-optimum level. For 47 years since independence, we are not able to provide tertiary education for the Rakyat and we keep talking about meritocracy - MERIT-CRACY IS MUCH MORE APPROPRIATE WORD. Malaysia aspires to be the educational hub for Asia but can't even provide places in universities for our own childrens, the Rakyat.

“The promise that Malaysia is a Center of Excellence must be made good, otherwise … the credibility of the nation will surely be eroded. Malaysian society does not want to be a one that is offensively boastful, one whose talks do not match deeds,” says Dr. Ibrahim Bajunid of UNITAR.

Ministers can keep boasting, but the truth keeps prevailing!
