Hardev Kaur Spins

In her article today, Hardev Kaur spins: The Land of the Free has no time for Free trade.

Abstract:

Malaysia's New Economic Policy was closely scrutinised and severely criticised when it was first launched and continues to remain under the microscope of foreign investors and indeed foreign governments, including the United States. But the policy of foreign shareholdings and ownership is even more stringent in the US than its under the NEP in Malaysia.

Miss Hardev,

I am not sure if you are plucking a case of Virgin Atlantic to represent the totality of investment policies in US and I don't have any datas to prove you right or wrong. But one thing I like to tell you, the NEP is about a policy that empirically divide Malaysians of various races into two classes of citizen, Bumis and Non-Bumis, whereas you are trying to equate the NEP with the US foreign investment policies on airline ownership, and not every category of investment. Would you try to compare the NEP and any US business policies on ownership that states that the white must have at least 30% ownership in business owned by Blacks or people of other colors who are US citizens? That way, you can draw an analogy that equates to NEP.

Would you call Malaysia the land of free trade, or in your own words: the land of free ride?

Comparing a monkey to the tip of an elephant's tail, and concluded that monkey is bigger than elephant.

To Hardev Kaur, the NEP's latest apologist:

All Malaysians can see through your tricks-- you are taking us to be fools and trying to confuse us by tying up American investment policies with Malaysia's infamous NEP. Your tactics remind me of
Orwell's '1984'

“To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just so long as it is needed…”

"The past was erased, the erasure was forgotten, the lie became truth."

"And if all others accepted the lie which the party imposed-if all records told the same tale-then the lie passed into history and became the truth."
