Vulnerability of those who needs Protection

Witnesses will be protected, says PM

The Government assures personal security for witnesses who come forward to help verify the authenticity of the video clip purportedly showing a prominent lawyer brokering the appointment of judges.

“We will give protection to them wherever required,” Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi told reporters yesterday.

I do not doubt that the government would give protection. But would they be safe or at least be convinced adequately that they would be safe in the hands of those who are to give them protection?

Altantunya came to Malaysia, feared for her life, made a police report. No one was sent to protect her. In fact, the contrary seems to have been implied. She was ultimately murdered and the immigration records of her entry was deleted, for no apparent reason, or was there an ostensible "reason"?

Several police officers made reports alleging the collaboration of the senior police superiors with the organized crime syndicate Taikors. They were investigated and "punished" (read the details at Malaysia-Today).

Malaysia Today has published many reports about the links between the organised crime syndicate and the Royal Malaysian Police. The eight reports are as follows:

1. Malaysia’s organised crime syndicate: all roads lead to Putrajaya
2. The roaches are scurrying and the rats are hurrying
3. Please, IGP, explain this!
4. The latest update on Infohub Sdn Bhd
5. The walls come crumbling down
6. No peace on Peace Hill
7. Who’s running the asylum anyway?
8. Blow away the whistle blower

Mahathir reported that UMNO in Kubang Pasu were buying votes. Nothing happens; no action was taken against those alleged and named; and a few guys were battered and threatened.

Anwar and his team reported and gave a video clip on an alleged Lawyer-Judge scandal. Anwar was threatened with jail and indictment.

UPM students reported about harassments and threats, from fellow students and officers. Nothing happens; no action was taken against those bullies.

Nurin's parents were investigated to determine whether they had being grossly negligent in failing to take reasonably care which led to their daughter's murder. The murderer is still at large. Women and Welfare Minister Sharizat said actions would be taken against parent if their children suffered harm at the hands of perpetrators, murderers or rapist.

Bloggers were detained for whistleblowing - Nathaniel, Raja Petra - and others were called Monkeys and threatened with ISA detention. Fear were driven; bloggers were under duress and undue influence.

Protection? Are they safe? The observation is that the gangsters and mafias remains pretty safe and cosy. The IGP said he is conducting an internal investigation to determine whether the narcotic raid conducted by the police officers had followed standard operating procedures and were authorized. Was it an impromptu or an unauthorised raid? This is the question Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan wants answered after two policemen were shot dead and two others were critically wounded in a drug bust on Thursday.

Drop the ‘Goreng Pisang’ mentality, will you; please!

Skepticism?

“You must look at yourself first. Ask yourself, how committed are you?

“How often do you work on your plot of land? And are you committed in what you do?” Pak Lah asked.

We too like to ask the same question...

I for one wouldn't trust the Malaysian government to protect me, or anyone else.
The civil servants also are not to be trusted, since, based on experience thus far, they are, on the whole, just the stooges of government who are at the beck and call of the 72 ministers and deputy ministers which Malaysia has to suffer.
Malaysia is in decline, and will suffer greatly in the next decade unless there are radical changes.

Mmudahlupa & AnakMerdeka,

Thank you both. This is a surprise from both of you. I thought it was something anonymous.

protection? unless it benefits the majority. asked the loud mouth defacto law minister.
the last person to trust is the government. if a person can be C4 and immigration records deleted, police going against police, unarmed civilians shot at, minorities have no right to rule of law but subjugated to rule by law of the majority, do you wanna trust those fellas in the government? unless you want to put your life to unduly high risk.

One thing for sure. I wouldn't touch this government even with a 10-foot pole. They have been lying and lying and lying until they now find it hard to differentiate between reality and fiction, and they want us to trust them by coming forward and be protected by them? What a load of crap?

Eh.. when's your Bday? Anyway... Happy Birthday to You!!!

The more I read about all these issues with ISA and politics, the more I felt sad. I guess I better keep my eyes and ears shut from all these issues and live happily ever after. Just like most of the ppl in PRC... whatever their gomen says!

Call me a coward or hypocrite or whatever. But I'd rather be a coward and live happily ever after than trying to be hero and live in fear later.

Maverick SM,
Cant find a ingle indicator to indicate that they can be trusted at all. Its just a ploy to expose the whistleblower so that they can be taken care of. After that the whole sheenanigans can be swept under the carpet. No less than the PM himself had to give the assurance and yet nobody believes in him.

And to think my parents wanted me to go into politics...puhlease.
I plan to do the world some good not to make it worst by the supremely-idiotic-mentality that comes along with being a politician in this country.
