Rais blame British for ISA and Sedition Laws

Malaysian Foreign Minister Dr Rais Yatim told British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs David Miliband that Malaysian laws, in particular, the Internal Security Act and the Sedition Act were inherited from the British during the colonial days. "So if the laws is deemed to be fearful in Malaysia, it'll be the same too in Singapore and Brunei," he told journalists after Miliband had left.

It is observed that what Dr Rais is expressing must be that if the British deemed that law is inappropriate they should advice Singapore and Brunei to act first; otherwise, they should change their attitude towards Malaysia.

At the Parliament yesterday, Deputy Health Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Latiff Ahmad in his reply to Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing (BN-Bintulu) that the shortage of specialists in Malaysia was not faced by Malaysia alone.

“On the problem of the lack of specialists, even those who are originally from Sabah do not want to go back to the state to serve. Perhaps they had drunk the water from Klang Valley and they prefer to stay here,” Dr Latiff told Salleh Kalbi (BN-Silam).

Klang Valley water is preferred over Sabah water?

Shortage is not only Malaysia?

Price of goods increase is not only in Malaysia.

Producing and selling petroleum is not only Malaysia.

Poverty, not only Malaysians.

What a great and exceptional answer from our Minister. He is so intelligent and smart.

Intelligent and smart ministers; only here in Malaysia.

this rais comment is stupid...

british oledi not relevant, lawmakers can choose to make and reject the law they want - if they think isa and sedition is nonsense and cruel, they can always write of them off the law ...

without british, malaysia like sabah and kalimantan and palembang- so under-developed...

He is indirectly blaming Westminster's democracy for BN's setbacks in the 12th GE. umno would still be in power if it follows the Taliban style of government

cant expect much from minister or people who think that the government is their own piggy bank and the government owed them a living by having to dish out multi million projects on a silver platter.

cant expect much from people who think the rest of malaysians owed them a living by having the rest of the malaysians subsidizing their lifestlye like special discount in house purchase, 30% share in companies, using tax payer money to build public projects but can only be used by certain malaysians.

these ministers come from such crutch mentality that thinking would be like a marathon for them so they will always take the easy way out by having a free ride and importantly if things dont work out the the problem - is always because of the other party, or because of god's will or as this intellectually challenge minister put it - it is happening all over the world.

so?

is the minister suggesting that we just sit around and wait till the whole world recovers?

that is so apt for people who are given handouts all their life.

Denzook,

Malaysia follow British. We'll wait for Singapore and Brunei to change first.

Ling Ling Chatt,

Where got weakness? The weakness is others; out Ministers always do the right thing.

CK,

We can change the law but the law serve the purpose; so no need to change.

Jefus,

Ya, coincidental and incidental.

Agnos,

We can expect; expect the same.

Gee.... That IS kinda silly, stop blaming each other and blame the British now? LOl. Will the Brits issue a statement about this issue now? From the Queen perhaps, haha!

But on the other hand, the drink water think, I'm assuming he was trying to say Sabah people who come to peninsular prefer to remain because the "like" it better, not really related to the water of course.

And the economic and food crisis indeed is not only happening in Malaysia, and that it is a global issue now, but that should not be an excuse to not do something to at least alleviate the situation.

Luckily he didnt blame his penis for making his wife pregnant. LOL!

Sandyow,

The British says, no cure.

On the Sabah water, what the minister is saying is that he can't get specialist doctors to work in Sabah and his excuse is nobody wants to work there.

Setuoid Made Faker,

Oh, he did; but not in parliament.

These ministers seem to always compare our country to others especially when it comes justifying the things that they want to implement..

the price of petrol for example, or even the peacefulness in our country, compared to Palestine or Afghanistan, - in a way saying that we should stop complaining and be thankful for the things they do for us. such jokers.

found this while browsing;

Q: What do you think of poverty in Malaysia?
A: Poverty in Malaysia is not as bad as reported. Under the BN government, we have less poor people than Somalia.

Q: How about the rising level of crime?
A: Well, let’s look at it this way, we have crime for sure. But under the BN government, it is still not as bad as the crime levels in Iraq, where ordinary citizens get kidnapped everyday.

Q: Ok, what are your views on the issue of peaceful assembly in Malaysia? Why do police not allow peaceful assemblies.
A: Our police is actually not doing too bad a job. For example, if you really want to look at police brutality, look no further than Burma. They have even less freedom of speech there, and under the BN government, we actually allow more freedom of speech than Burma.

one more thing, they compare when things are to their advantage, eg compare crimes in malaysia and iraq.

but the moment another country is better than us, they will say don't compare cos our situation is different than them, it's like comparing apple and oranges. ask them compare between malaysia and singapore.

Kits,

Thanks and you are most welcome.

Hopeful,

You have good research. Ya, we must appreciate that we are not the worst; and we are doing okay...
