Skirt! A Parliament's dilemma

The parliament is facing some power struggle problem.

The Security guards have empowered themselves not only to take care of security matters but also to enforce moral code in accordance with their own discretion. They now have the power to direct ladies what to wear and what is right to wear.

But the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz disagreed with the security guards new found power.

Nazri said that all security personnel in Parliament would be told that the issue of dress code was none of their business.

“As long as you are decently dressed, it’s alright. It's not up to the (security) officers to decide what is decent or what is indecent. Their job is to ensure security - that's it,” said Nazri at a press conference.

He said that so long as journalists and other visitors are not “wearing underwear and singlet”, they should be allowed into Parliament.

Nazri added that action would only be taken if MPs or members of the public have written in to complain about “indecent dressing”.

The minister also said there should not be any double standards between MPs and non-MPs.

“Does it mean if MPs go about naked that is alright? Tak boleh! (Cannot!) I cannot have such double standards,” he said.

According to Nazri, even male visitors wearing jeans should be allowed into Parliament as long as he is wearing a jacket and tie.

This is the second time that journalists had a run-in with the Parliament administration.

Last month, irate journalists boycotted events outside the parliamentary chambers after they were barred from the building’s lobby. The ban was however lifted the next day.

Whoever who keeps coming up with moral policing like these are not only insulting women, they're making men seem like some sex-starved animals who would jump at women the momeny they see a cm of bare flesh. Since when do the journalists not dress decently? The Parliament is a place to debate and make laws (ideally), to have the limelight on such a petty issue..*taps table* shame..shame..

Mauven,

The parliament no more debate about economics and government matters; we have directed all discussions to skirts, sodomy, successions and inheritance. All Corridors of projects have been shelved.

Can we have a picture of the guard? If we can post a picture of Bung with his Johnson clap, I would love to see his pic on your blog so that we can stay clear of people with demented minds.

Hello all,

Its very clear that the securities should not address people to wear what, as long is not wearing underwear and singlet.

They should be concern of securing people's safety rather than bothering people's attire.

It's nonsense for the securities to bother about the ladies attire. Do they have a formal guideline of what to and not to wear, or it depends on the judgment of the securities?..
They should be more concern about the security of the Parliament and don't let some petty and small matters bother them.

How stoopid can the guards be? Security guard means guarding the security. If we need Talibanism, we will hire Taliban guards for Parliament.

Was a good joke while it lasted.

nazlee is the culprit, the guards only carry out his order. Now the guards are cunfused!

Why are they not focused on their jobs? They were elected caretakers of the country. Don't they see the condition the country is in? Damn fools! Excuse my language.

Maverick

Issues of miniskirts should not arise in Parliament level. It now seems that our BN Ministers and Cabinets are all of retarded quality and mentally sick.

The only way of recovering from such diseases would be to spodomising each other Cabinet members and Bomb themselves to pieces - Obviously, Mr Bomber could lend good hand on this C4 subject.

Dont you think so?

If Tun Dr M was still the PM, these security guards would probably have got a private tongue lashing, such was the centralisation of power in his day.

The current regime's practice of decentralisation has dire consequences as can be seen by the "interpretation" of security duties.

Artchan,

The guards picture is posted, my friend.

Wisdomthinker,

But that's not our security guards doing; they believed they are moral enforcers.

Redbag,

The security guards had empowered themselves with wide discretions and they believed it is the privilege under the Ketuanan rule.

Artchan,

Nowadays, with the Ketuanan principles every one within a class believed they had such privilege and power.

Bestuntman,

Nazri was never the culprit; It has nothing to do with him in this instance.

Fergie,

The guards believed they had such authority and power.

CK,

You are right; we have observed it in UPM and in UUM.

Dumb-Bomber-Sei-Four,

No lah; you are obsessed with Altantunya.

Constant Drama,

Hahaha..you had the language that I had always wanted to write but refrained.

Purple Haze,

Actually, all these enforcers began to acquire their power and influence during Tun M's regime.
