Mosque with Pagoda architecture in Kelantan

Have you seen a mosque with Pagoda architecture?

You can visit this one at Rantau Panjang, Kelantan, the Islamic State of Malaysia.

The Sultan Ismail Petra Silver Jubilee Mosque is a double-storey building topped by a minaret and an unusual turban-shaped cupola and cost the State Government RM7.2 million.

The mosque would be ready for visitors by next month.

must be a cut and paste job from the architect firm.

i don't think it will be ready by next month. Saw it on 3rd Oct., it seems there are many things still need to be done. Anyway, it is good mosque with that architecture.

Excellent architecture.

Cutting and pasting? You are over-simplifying things seefei.

It just goes to show that places of worships need not be tailored into one specific design, image or concept .

The architectural facade is Chinese but the spirit of those using it is Islamic. If the Chinese Muslims want it this way, so be it.

But what is taking the BN government so long to even approve something like this?

i totally agree with nina. places of worship should not be tied up with certain design or concept.

plenty of this in china and i myself saw some in vietnam too. i am sure tat the mosques in europe or maybe south america are different too.

our malaysian muslims unfortunately restricted their mind to everything arabic but they forgot that some arabians are christians.

my point? don't equalize religion to culture and race.

sorry SM. my comments were tongue in cheek. In lil island, when i was a trainee with a consulting firm, i had come across mosque with no crescent and star. there was even one with crosses, although in a slanted way. i didnt notice until the clerk of work told me that.

concur with ck, too long ppl have associated muslim with arabic culture. i, too have chinese fren who are muslim. if they have their way, they too would look forward to a mosque built in according to their cultural norm.

good post!

agree with ck, malays in malaysia fantazise about being arab.

the truth is there is nothing special about arabs anyway. The prophet might have came from there, but that doesn't mean the generations or the people there are anything more ketuanan that those tuan in malaysia?

just be your own self, malay in malaysia have their own unique culture (wayang kulit, chongkak, and etc) and you cannot find these in the arab world. the arab world are full of wars and trachery. It's a land of no peace, even when before the jews came to isreal, they were figthing civil wars among themselves.

no point following them. just be a Malaysian!!

cheers-man.

SeeFei,

It's not about CnP; it's still about architecture.

Hopeful,

I agree with you on the concept and ideology.

abu,

This is not from the BN govt; it is PAS govt.

Siful Mirza,

That's good words and much appreciated.

CK,

You have good points.

SeeFei,

It is alright; nothing bad.

maybe it's a cultural centre!- Mudahlupa.

mav, you're not writing much now. Too busy teaching?

This is an honor for Admiral Cheng Ho. The Chinese Envoy was already A Muslim before Melaka became a Muslim Country ( and of course before the Mamaks Ancestral traders migrated here)

Mmudahlupa,

Ya, busy; not teaching but consultancy services.
