"PUT MoUs INTO EFFECT," SAYS PAK-LAH
The Star, Page 2, 29th. May 2004
Pak Lah has directed Malaysian Companies who have signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs)with their Chinese partners to put them into effect. "All parties must carry out all the points of agreement they have entered into (the MoU)," says Pak Lah. "If they do not, it will not be good for their business and the reputation of business opportunities both in Malaysia and China," Pak Lah reiterated.
Ironically, this message is against the very principle applied by the Government of Malaysia in direct reference to the Double-Track Railway project which the Government had agreed to award by way of a Letter of Intent issued to China Railway (CREC)and Indian Railway (IRCON) consortium; and later in October 30th. 2003, the Government nullified the LOI by awarding the project to MMC-Gamuda.
26th. October 2003, The Star
On the 26th October 2003, Datuk Chan Kong Choy, the then Deputy Transport Minister had claim that the Letter Of Intent (LOI) was not binding.(I'm not sure whether Datuk Chan knows what he's talking about and I'm surprised that he should comment on a legal aspect when the then Minister in the PM Department (legal affairs) Rais Yatim had kept silent (the AG had also being silent on the same matter).
On the 11th. December 2003, the Government announced the postponement of the Double-Track project due to lack of funds. Then, why award the project on 30th. October which is only 41 days earlier, & then have to backtrack? Is it that Mahathir doesn't know the Government don't have the money(Mahathir was then the Finance Minister too)?
Or, Is it because of Mahathir had errorneously awarded the contract to MMC-Gamuda (becasue he was misled by Syed Mokhtar and his legal advisors pertaining to the validity and contractual elements of an LOI)
Now Pak Lah is directing all businessment to honor MoUs when the Government has set the precedent to dishonor such agreement.
CAKAP TAK SERUPA BIKIN!!!!!!!!!.
"DO AS I TOLD YOU TO DO, NOT WHAT I DO."
"WHAT I TOLD YOU TO DO, DO IT; WHAT I DO, THE PRINCIPLE DOES NOT APPLY IN THIS CASE."
- IS THIS THE NEW IDEOLOGY FOR ALL MALAYSIANS????
I HAVE ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT THIS IDEOLOGY IS ONLY PREACHED & PRACTICED BY GEORGE BUSH........
ACA CONTRADICTS PAK-LAH'S STATEMENT - 18 PROBES SUBMITTED TO AG
The Star, 29th. May 2004
ACA FORWARDS RESULT OF 18 PROBES TO AG
ACA Director-General Datuk Zulkipli Mat Noor said it was now up to the Attorney-General to begin prosecution of the 18 high-profile cases which was submitted to the AG Chambers.
This piece of news is incongruent with the earlier statement made by the Prime Minister on the 25th. May 2004 (Blogged earlier) that the 18 cases refers to 18 sectors to which attention should be directed to eradicate corruption.
Is Pak-Lah trying to hide something from the Malaysians or is he being misled by someone? Is this what we called - Transparency, Efficiency & Correcting the public perception that was the core ideology of our Prime Minister? Malaysians are fools anyway as we have been led by those who consistently make sure that we understand that ideology is what is practiced and meant.

POLICE FORCE STRIVING TO REGAIN PUBLIC TRUST
28th. May 2004, The Star
The Star News report (28th. May 2004)
CID director Datuk Musa Hassan began working towards bringing back public confidence in the police force since taking office on 1st. March 2004. The crime buster, in his first month as CID director, has arrested several underworld lords and vice kingpins. He said he would go on investigating and arresting such people.
"I was an investigating officer and my superiors did not like my no-nonsense stance, especially when I raided gambling and vice dens. They wanted me to inform them first about my raids but I defied them. I was called up and told to stop my raids. I told my supervisor that he would have to take my name off the list of officers gazetted to conduct raids if they wanted me to stop, otherwise I would go on," says Datuk Musa.
Commissioner Musa said he wanted his officers, especially investigating officers and senior investigating officers to stand up to their superiors if ordered to stop, tamper or fabricate evidence.
Kudos to Datuk Musa for refusing to succumb to his corrupt superiors and we hope more officers like him will stand forward and be brave in their duty.
I wonder if that superior of his is still in the police force. If he (the superior) is still there, what will be done? If he isn't, does that mean no actions can be taken to indict the guilty party?
When Datuk Musa mention that officers should stand up to their superiors if ordered to stop, tamper or fabricate evidence, we believe he is speaking from his experience. So, will Datuk Musa be willing to expose those officers who had asked him to stop, fabricate, and tamper evidence; and if there exist such cases (which were fabricated or tempered, will he be willing to stand up and come forward to expose those cases. Datuk Musa was involve in the indictment of Anwar Ibrahim's case? Is there anything that can be implied from his statement of truth (experience)?
The ball is back in Datuk Musa's court. Since he is directing his subordinates to stand up to his philosophy and core ideology of a brave, fearless and upright system of management, will he be brave to stand up for public scrutiny and probably face the wrath of the insidious ideological system which he preached?
GOD BLESS HIM AND GIVE HIM THE STRENGTH TO PURSUE RIGHTEOUSNESS AND UPHOLD THE DIGNITY OF THE POLICE FORCE!

TELEKOM THE CAUSE OF OLD KLANG ROAD PROJECT DELAY
Jalan Kelang Lama Project Delayed
26th. May 2004, The Star report
The roadwork project in Jalan Kelang Lama was reported to be delayed and the delay reason was attributed to the relocation of existing telecommunication services owned by Telekom Malaysia.
Lately, we have heard and read much about the restructuring of the Government Link Companies (GLCs, and the much talk about introduction of performance measurement tools such as KPI, Balance Scorecard, Six Sigma, etc to enhance efficiency and productivity; and it is well-known fact that Telekom Malaysia had over the years, been applying these "effective tools", (especially KPI) to measure their performance. Yet we wonder how effective the tools are, and how did the management measures performance while we often hear of construction project being delayed primarily due to the relocation of existing services and the culprits are Telekom, TNB, Waterworks Department (JBA), DBKL (for KL projects).
On an unrelated issue, I had a problem with my streamyx (not able to access the service, maybe due to my ADSL modem which is under warranty) and I made a report as usual. I was told by their service department that they will need at least one week to sent a technician to resolve my problem (reason is they are too many such problems to attend and limited resources). I begged for help saying that I'm a researcher and will have problem with my day-to-day activities without the service. Fortunately, the technician came the next day and my problem was resolved (Thanks to the good samaritan). Is it common for telekom to take one week to solve problem like this? Is this efficiency and customer service, customer-oriented, customer satisfaction?
The report today (roadworks delay) is not the only one we have heard all these years. If you have been involved with construction projects and JKR road projects, you will understand that these sort of problems have been plaguing the industry players for umpteen years and no improvement had been made so far (Talk to JKR Project Managers and they will verify this). Yet these GLCs still say they had an effective performance measurement system to monitor efficiency, effectiveness and productivity; and they can & want to be world class. I have been involved in construction projects for the last 20 odd years, and I testify to this inefficiencies by the GLCs.
What is efficiency and effectiveness? What is Performance Measurement?; what is Key Performance Index?; What is Balance Scorecard and Six Sigma? Top Management in GLCS talk a lot about it (often made public statement about it - read the News), but do they understand it and do they have a strategic plan to achieve it? CAKAP TAK SERUPA BIKIN! For many Malaysian Contractors, they have learn to live with such inefficiencies and have adapted to the system of incompetence and it has become part and parcel of their construction life. Some contractors who have political linkage, use their political connection to influence action. Some other contractors who are not so fortunate to rub shoulders with politician (because it is very expensive to rub them; its the truth) uses more innovative actions to solve this problem by "Paying to get Efficient Services" to ensure affirmative action. Is all this UNKNOWN, UNCOMMON, UNHEARD TO OUR MINISTERS & THE CEOs OF GLCs? (Some of the CEOs of GLCs were with other organization before joining GLCs - they should understand)
COMEON - BE MALAYSIAN & ADMIT THE TRUTH; AFTERALL THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE ADOPTED - THE MALAYSIA-BOLEH PHILOSOPHY!!!!!!!!!

UTAR RECOGNIZE UEC AS ENTRY QUALIFICATION
UTAR
25th. May 2004, The Sun reports
UTAR council President Datuk Seri Ling Liong Sik said that University Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) recognize the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) for entry admission to Bachelor Degree courses. According to LS Ling, UTAR was given the nod by the Government when the application to set up UTAR was approved.
"IT WAS CLEARLY STATED IN THE LETTER OF APPROVAL," LS Ling told Sin Chew Daily on Sunday. According to Ling, he wondered why the Government has to impose this restrictive requirement (the SPM Bahasa Malaysia requirement)when it is trying to attract foreign students to study in Malaysia.
The Government has always express their desire to make Malaysia an International Education Center and hope to draw much foreign funds to Malaysia. At the same time, the Government or should I say, the National Accreditation Board (LAN) has set up policies and rules to make sure that vision of Making Malaysia the International Center for Education will not be fulfilled. Maybe LAN officials don't want it as the move will give them more work with the same pay!!!HO!HO!HO!
"NO COVERUP OF GRAFT CASES," SAYS PAK-LAH
No Coverup
18 sectors NOT 18 cases!
25th. May 2004, NSTP reports
Pak-Lah says that there will be no cover up of graft cases and the facts will be made public to erase the perception that corruption was widespread and that investigation were dragging along. According to Pak-Lah, this was to ensure justice is done in corruption cases.
I admire is stand and hope he does what he says.
First and foremost, with what he just said, he should have no fear and prejudice, to make public those cases of investigation on several of his ministers, such as Rafidah ziz, Nazri, Diam, Ling Leong Sik, etc who had so far not been indicted and presumably, were "exonerated".
Today, Pak-lah explained that the 18 cases mentioned by Rais Yatim refers to 18 sectors to which attention should be directed to eradicate corruption. Does he mean that Rais is "shooting below his hip" and Rais got the wrong info from Attorney General? Or, is Pak-lah covering up something? The statement is worth pondering and at the time when Rais Yatim made the statement, we are certain he knows what he is talking and he also knows the consequences he will face if he is lying. Are we Malaysians stupid or are we been made one?
ROSELAN APOLOGIZE FOR HIS FARCICAL STATEMENT ON RAPE VICTIMS
Roselan Apology
25th. May 2004, NSTP report
Today's news in The Sun published a statement of apology from Kota Kinabalu UMNO Division head Roselan Johar pertaining to his previous remarks on the rape victims which I had blogged earlier.
"It could be in bad taste but I did not mean for it to sound like that," says Roselan.
I do not know what he had intented to mean, if that's not what he had meant. Anyway, he did apologize and I think we should accept it as his sincerity.
"Public officials should be educated on the nature and effect of rape before expressing their views on the subject," says Ivy Josiah, the executive director of Woman's Aid Organization. Is she implying that public officials are nuts and have no basic knowledge about human psychology, human philosophy and understanding of basic social issues? If that's true, then did we elect or did the Barisan National appoint NUTs to take care of the Rakyat? My GOD, where is the Nation heading with the type of leaders we have?
EXPATRIATE DREAM CRUSHED BY PENANG OUTER RING ROAD PROJECT
PORR Project
END OF A DREAM FOR EXPATRIATE
Douglas Fox who once served as a colonel in the British Army migrated to Penang with his whole family four years ago with all he had and settled at a RM3 million bungalow at Jesselton Height. Now he is informed that his home is among 18 houses which have to make way for the Penang Outer Ring Road Project (PORR).
Dear Ministers and State Exco members of Penang, if you are an ordinary citizen; have only so much money and have invested what you have in your home, and now you find that, for whatever reason which is not your fault, one business company, for profit reason, had proposed to the State Government to demolish your property (so that they can make some money for themselves); what will you do and how will you feel? Dear asshole ministers, why not demolish your own house and make way for a road project? Try ask Pak-lah's son (who is worth hundred million dollars)to give up his wealth for a road project in the interest of the Penang State Government? We have elected the people so that they can destroy the Rakyat's property and wealth (including those foreigners who love our country and people and have invested here) so that one company will be rich.

RAPE ISSUE - FARCICAL POLITICAL ERUDITION FROM SABAH UMNO LEADER
Leadership Today
SABAH POLITICAL LEADER'S INCOMPETENCY
In The Star today, it was reported that the women group leaders in Sabah are incensed over an off-color remark by Kota Kinabalu UMNO protem chief Roselan Juhar who advised, "That potential rape victims who are unable to overpower the rapist, it will be more sensible to submit to him and it would be better to lie down and enjoy the sexual event." He further suggested, "that rape victims should be psychologically assessed as to whether they enjoyed the incident."
It will be sensible for Roselan to advice rape victim who has been overpowered, to submit her chastity in order to protect her life, but certainly, I perplexed as to the reason why the political master should even suggest an assessment as to whether the rape victim did enjoy the incident. Its utterly ludicrous and preposterous for Roselan to suggest such assessment.
What cross my mind after reading such statement is:
"Is that the type of leadership we have and have chosen to lead us?"
Is there more of them within Barisan who have the similar philosophy and ideology?
DIDN'T THE PEOPLE OF SABAH CHOSE ROSELAN TO LEAD THEM?
ISN'T THIS TYPE OF MENTALITY EQUAL OR MAYBE, MUCH WORSE THAN THE RECENT NEWS ON THE MISTREATMENT OF THE MAID?
PAK-LAH, CAN YOU CHECK & ASSESS YOUR SUBORDINATES?

PAK-LAH'S DREAM OF "BUILD THEN SELL CONCEPT" ON HOUSING
Build and sell concept to protect house buyers:
PETALING JAYA: "The Government is considering the possibility of making developers build houses first before selling them," Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said.
The Prime Minister said the Government would find the best way to implement this. "I think it is not right to pay first before you get your house. That should not be the case," he said at a press conference after attending the civil servants Workers Day gathering at the National Institute for Public Administration Malaysia (Intan) here yesterday."
In response to this suggestion, REDHA President Datuk Jeffrey Ng voiced his concern that many property developers will not be able to fund the projects to completion and such move will dampened the property industry, create an upsurge in house prices, and increase the risks of borrowers and lenders.
I do believe that if the Political Masters can make this happen, it will surely provide better protection to house buyers and any price increase should be moderate in view of the current property glut that is still existing.
This move will inevitably flush out most, if not all, of the weak property developers, including those organizations (property developers) that are listed in the stock exchange, particularly those poorly managed ones. It should also help improve the standard and quality of houses as the buyers would then have the opportunity to view those completed houses before buying.
Pak-Lah, would you be able to make it happen or this is just a mere puff - CAKAP TAK SERUPA BIKIN!

"PROBLEM OF ATTITUTE," SAYS MUNIR MAJID
New Straits Times - Malaysia News Online:
"THE BIG PICTURE: Ensuring we make that quantum leap" - By Munir Majid
According to Munir Majid in his article on 22nd. May, "The government must structure and organise intensive crash courses for civil servants organised by Malaysians, not foreign consultants, to bring the new global realities to them, with whom they can be more open about their 'hang-ups' and reservations."
Is the Government listening and will they act?
According to Munir, "Fundamentally, the problem is one of attitude. ...There is, however, something more and bigger than that — a misconceived notion of trying to protect interests, for nation and race, which now need a different way of protection from what they had in the past been taught to do. ...They have to be told about the new realities, as not too long from now the top echelons of the civil service may be occupied by those who would, additionally, not have the English language capability to give them access to the appreciation of those realities."
I would not add further as the erudition by Munir will be self-fulfilling. Murphy's Law at work!

THE MALAY DILEMMA
EVEN THE MALAYS DON'T BELIEVE IN THEIR OWN PEOPLE.
I was recently approach by a large Malaysian steel manufacturing company to conduct a training programme on Cost Reduction and Control. Before accepting, I request for the details of the participants and was told that they are supervisors and production personnels, largely Malays. I was inform to converse in Bahasa Malaysia because most of the participants are weak in English, which I believe would not be a problem as I do speak reasonable good Bahasa Malaysia.
When I was told that I should prepare the notes in Bahasa Malaysia, I inform the sponsor that it is not advisable as many of the terms could not be intepreted in Bahasa. I believe, that we should make an attempt to provide the Malay participants an opportunity to learn English and at the same time, if they did not understand, I would interpret in Bahasa to help them understand. To my astonishment, the HR of the organization commented that "their people are quite stupid and won't learn." I told her that we should not look down on our own employees but should make every attempt to educate them and make them better and prepare them to meet the challenges that they would have to face eventually.
I am saddened by the attitude of the management people of that organization who do not believe in its own people especially, most of them are bumiputeras. Why can't the Bumi managers give an opportunity to the fello Bumi subordinates to learn and enhance themselves. If the Bumis' can't believe on their own people, how do you expect others to help them? I take pride in making attempts to help educate the Bumis, but can the Bumis' also do it for their own? I do believe not all Bumi managers behave the same way as this particular manager and I do hope that the management of this steel mill will take action on those managers who despise their own employees. That steel mill is losing a lot of money and I can understand the reason as they have such kind of managers. God bless the boss and the shareholders who are Malaysians. I think the Govt of Malaysia is also a majority shareholder. I won't comment! GLC shit!!!!! We change CEOs of Telekom, TNB, Khazanah - those that are still not too bad in terms of return on investment. What about those GLC and Quasi-GLC, those who are on the brink of failure and closure???? Pak-Lah, are you seeing the big picture, the right picture?

PHYSICAL ABUSE OF MAIDS - EVEN THE APES DON'T DO IT
MAID ABUSE BY MALAYSIAN EMPLOYER
HAVE RICH MALAYSIANS TURNED SADDIST?
What is happening to the rich Malaysians? Why do they treat their maids as animals?
The treatment meted out on 19-year-old Nirmala Bonet, the maid from Indonesia is inhuman. The authorities had to take stern action against the employer and his wife and it must be a deterrent to all other employers. It should be construed as MURDER OF THE FIRST DEGREE!

KNOWLEDGE-BASED & LEARNING (POLITICAL)ORGANIZATION
GIVE ME BOOKS ONLY!
TRENGGANU MB IDRIS JUSOH LEADING A NEW KNOWLEDGE-BASED PARADIGM
It is hearthening to hear that MB for Trengganu, Datuk Idris Jusoh have adviced organisers of Govt functions to give him books as souvenior during functions. His intention is to promote the reading habit among the public. Idris Jusoh prefers books on Management, Leadership and Creativity.
I am not sure whether reading is a passion for Idris Jusoh, but I will give him the benefit of doubt. I must say, the actions is admirable and a good example of "LEADERSHIP BY EXAMPLE."
The choice of books preferred by the MB is enlightening and should provide good knowledge that will enhance his leadership ability and competency while governing the State.
According to Idris Jusoh, all the state assemblymen will be given a $250 monthly book allowance to encourage them to read more and all of them must enrol as a member in public libraries.
WHAT IS THE OTHER STATE MEMTRI BESARS DOING????? ARE THEY TOO BUSY LOOKING INTO WAYS TO BE BILLIONAIRES AND SELLING PROJECTS.
DOES THE OTHER STATE MEMTRI (KAYA)BESAR READ MANAGEMENT BOOKS TO BETTER THEMSELVES IN THEIR MANAGEMENT SKILLS & WILL THEY ENCOURAGE THEIR STATE REPRESENTATIVE TO READ BOOKS INSTEAD OF SPENDING TIME IN THE GOLF COURSE AND HOLIDAYING OVERSEAS.
PARADIGN SHIFT IN MALAYSIA - NEW YOUNG TURKS TO LEAD GLCs
New Telekom & TNB Heads
Telekom Malaysia & TNB gets new CEO
Yesterday, Telekom Malaysia named Datuk Abdul Wahid Omar as the new CEO and Che Khalib Mohamad Nor, the current CEO/MD of KUB Malaysia Bhd was named CEO of TNB.
Datuk Abdul Wahid who is currently the CEO of UEM was a former chief financial officer of Telekom and the new appointment is more like a home coming to him. He has spent 2 1/2 years in UEM, spending most of his time trying to restructure the massive debts he had inherited from Halim Saad (former CEO of UEM installed by Tun Diam Zainuddin). His departure seems a good promotion for Wahid, but is untimely as UEM had just got over the restructuring exercise and its health has yet to get back on-stream. There is still a lot to be done and whoever is installed to take over will have more than his hands full.
Congratulations to both of them as they will now have to take a new challenge to drive these giant sleeping utility corporation to a new apogee within 3 years term.
GOOD LUCK & PLEASE DON'T PUT POLITICAL CRONIES INTO THE NEW CORPORATE HOME

SYSTEMIC FAILURE IN MALAYSIAN PARLIMENT - NO ONE IS AT FAULT
Parliment Screw-up a Systemic Failure
PARLIMENT SCREW-UP A SYSTEMIC FAILURE
At the swearing-in ceremony of the Members of Parliment, Datuk Kamarudin Jaffar, the PAS MP for Tumpat urged the Dewan Rakyst speaker to declare that the MP for Mersing, Johor should be the defeated candidate from PAS Idris Tukachil because the Government's gazette issued (mistakenly) indicate that Idris obtained 19,222 votes while the Barisan candidate obtained 669 votes. That means Abdul Latiff from Barisan is not an MP even though the Election Commission had declared Abdul Latiff as the winner.
How could a Government gazette make such mistake?
According to Datuk Nazri, the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in-charge of parliment, "It may not be the commission's mistake. It could have been due to a printing error."
Suppose it is a printing error, why is it that the gazette is not check, proof-read, etc before being circulated? Is it that the parliment do not have a system to ensure the process is monitored, controlled and audited to ensure efficiency and effectiveness?
Or, should the error be from the Election Commission, what does it indicates?
Well, we just made ourselves a laughing stock to the international comunity. We are showing to the world the system we have and the efficiency level of our people, our executives and our leaders. Pak-Lah says he has scrutinized all the candidates standing for election and he is satisfied that they are competent and efficient, and at such they are selected to represent, to serve the Rakyat, and to take the nation to the forefront of economic prosperity and first world competencies - TO COMPETE WITH THE BEST - TO BENCHMARK AGAINST THE BEST!!!!!
Pak-Lah, do you really know your people, their ability, their capability and what they can or cannot do? Does the KPI that Pak-Lah profess applies here - on this issue????? Or Do we need another election to get a new mandate to offer the present Barisan Government another chance to proof themselves??? GOD bless the Malaysian - MALAYSIA BOLEH !!!!

INEFFICIENCY & MISMANAGEMENT OF PUBLIC FUNDS IN AID OF THE POOR
"Give out funds quicker," says Dr. Chua Soi Lek
Health Minister Dr. Chua Soi Lek wants subsidies and funds to be disbursed faster to kidney patients and NGOs running haemodialysis centre. According to Dr. Chua, it was unacceptable that the funds and subsidies took up to 8 months to be approved and disbursed by National Kidney Foundation. Dr. Chua wants the process to be relook into to find out why the process needs a middleman.
I'm not sure why Datuk Jimmy Chua Jui Meng, the former Health Minister failed to address the same issue throughout his tenure as Health Minister and we had to have a new Health Minister to have the foresight (or should I say, EYESIGHT) to see the problem which was "a pain in the ass" for the needy kidney patients.
In a similar case, it took Utusan Malaysia's Awang Selamat to highlight the plight of Nur Atiqah Najwa who suffered from a swollen heart and needed an operation that would cost $300,000, before we hear of actions coming from the Ministry of Health under Chua Jui Meng.
It just seem that we were having Ministers who are too busy serving everything except their portfolio.
Maybe, we are seeing some lights at the end of the tunnel under the leadership of Pak-Lah and hopefully, we are not passing through a twilight zone.
Cheerio; Soi lek-BOLEH!!!!!!

THE KHAIRY DILEMMA
No Name for Khazanah COO Yet
Why is Pak-Lah doing this to Khairy?
Its puzzling that Khazanah has yet to name the COO. Pak-Lah has named Azman Mokhtar as CEO of Khazanah but refuse to name the COO. He just love to fish around and it seems Khairy has resign from his position in PM's office.
Why can't we give this boy a chance to prove himself? Pak-Lah, please put on your balls!!!!!!

CORRECTING INEFFICIENCY IN THE IMMIGRATION SYSTEM
The Star, 13th. May 2004; page1
EASIER FOR EXPATRIATE TO GET WORK PERMIT
Home Minister, Datuk Azmi Khalid announced that the Pak-Lah's cabinet had decided to make it easier for expatriate to work in Malaysia by expediting the application process. Many people had complain that the application process could take up to five years.
It is good news to hear that the Government is now looking into their internal process inefficiencies and ineffectiveness after decades of poor management; primarily due to the self-created bureaucratic and systematic corruptive process. Our corruptive-enhance system is not unknown to most Malaysians and foreigners and we have learn to live with the system and adapted and formated it into the Malaysia-Boleh Culture of "Pay-to speed up the-Service" required.
We will have to pray harder to GOD/Allah that the many other processes and institutional autocrats and kleptocrats like CIDB, EPF, SOCSO, SEDCs, etc, will be structurally revamped and turnaround, and that Pak-Lah will not be replacing the old crooks for a set of new energetic-better crooks.
CAREER CRUSHED - PM DASHED HOPE OF HIS SON-IN-LAW IN MALAYSIA INCORPORATED
"I'm Sorry Khairy" - from Father-in-Law
"Khairy not going to Khazanah", says PM
PM has quashed report that his son-in-law is joining Khazanah.
According to Pak-Lah, "It was not for him to decide," on the subject matter.
I emphatized with Khairy if he fails to be selected due to his relation with the PM. He is definitely "Qualified, Able and Professional" and his quality and ability should meet the requirement as stipulated by Pak-Lah - BUT in view of his relationship with PM, and the PM does not want to be seen as a person who is trying to build up his personal family empire, Khairy may have to provide more emphirical justification to move up the corporate and political ladder.
I can only advice Khairy - "Please be patient and don't be upset. Bid for your time and tell Pak-Lah, he is wrong for not giving you a chance.
Long Wait for Settlement of SOCSO Claims
"Long Wait for Settlement of SOCSO Claims to be a thing of the past", says Datuk Dr. Fong Chan Onn.
In the news article on 12th. May 2004, the High Court ruled that R. Rajagopal should be compensated for an accident he sustained in 1997 when he was on his way to work and at the same time, he was also sending his wife to work.
In 1997, Rajagopal who works with Maybank in Kajang filed his claim with Socso but his application was rejected by the Socso Board on the ground that the accident took place when he diverted from his normal work route to drop his wife off at work. However, when the matter went to the Industrial Court, the court held that he was entitled to be compensated, as dropping his wife at work was part of his daily routine. But Socso disagreed and challenged the decision in the High Court. In February 2004, the High Court held that the Industrial Court decision was correct and should be upheld.
After 7 years, Rajagopal can now receive the little amount of compensation. WHAT A MOCKERY!!!!
I do not see the reason why Socso Board had to challenge the Industrial Court decision as Rajagopal had in fact suffered injuries due to the accident and needs the money from the compensation to pay his medical bills and all other expenses arising thereof.
It was acceptable that initially, Socso did not view the compensation as rightful when the claim was submitted to them (for reasons they believe they are right) but the matter was later ruled by the Industrial Court in favor of Rajagopal and Socso should be graceful to give the benefit of doubt (if it ever existed)to Rajagopal as a goodwill to help him tie over that difficult period. Sad to say, we had a bunch of politically appointed NUTs who served in the Socso Board, who is more interested to suck the system for their own benefit and would resist any form of claims from the workers who had contributed their income to Socso and who had in fact suffered injuries.
The question we are asking is "What contributions had these Board members made to Socso such that they be empowered to deny the rights of the workers who suffered from injuries"????
Now, our Minister is saying that Socso should not make the workers wait for their compensation for years. I thought Datuk Fong who had been the Human Resource Minister for many years, should have ensured that Socso is doing their job all those years - why today, why, why, why????
In his speech at the joint meeting of Socso Board directors, senior managers and 45 district managers nationwide at the Concorde Hotel in KL yesterday, the Minister reminded them that their main task as social security managers was to protect, care and ensure that workers who suffered from accidents were compensated and their welfare taken care of.
Why does it take so long for the Minister to tell those Asshole in Socso this message? In Mahathir's era, is this irrelevant???? Or is Pak-Lah more caring and effective????? Looks like the many ministers who are seen to be acting now during this Pak-Lah Era will create embarassment to Mahathir; as though Mahathir's years as Prime Minister does not require his Ministers to act for the benefit of the workers and Rakyat.
I wonder apart from Socso, what about CIDB??? They collect 0.25% from all construction contracts which is worth hundreds of million ringgit a year and they are investing this money in India and Sri Lanka as a contractor, concession holder & JV partners with other contractors for road privatisation projects. Will the profit from these investment be return back to the contractors who had contributed to CIDB or will the Board find a way to siphon the money elsewhere for their own??? Pak-Lah, can you wake-up to all these shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SUCKING THE PUBLIC DRY THROUGH WATER MANAGEMENT PROJECTS
WATER, WATER WATER, MONEY, MONEY, MONEY
The Star reported today that "Klang Valley folk may have to pay up to 45% more for water"
Tranliterate the word "water" in Chinese local vocabulary, and it means MONEY!
In the Star news today, it was reported that "CONSUMERS in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya may have to pay up to 45% more for water next year under a proposal submitted to the authorities as part of a plan to modernize the water supply systems in the state and the two federal territories."
Consumers in Selangor currently pay about 90 sen per cubic metre for fresh water. The rates in other states vary from as low as 30 sen in Penang to RM1.33 in Johor.
Earlier, it was reported that Datuk Seri Dr. Lim Keng Yaik was puzzled as to the reasons of the large difference in charges; 'Why is it Penang charges the lowest rate and still makes money but some states charge the highest and lose their pants?' he asked.
Ironically, the State of Selangor and Johor have the highest revenue collection compared to the other States, and yet they seem to be losing money, while in penang, they are making money. Incidentally, Johor's revenue includes selling raw water to Singapore. Is it because of inefficiency and poor accountabilty caused by poor management and lack of transparency and leaking pockets and pipes????
As reported in the Star today, "THE Selangor and Federal Governments are likely to go ahead with a plan to grant Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) a privatisation contract to supply fresh water in the state, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya despite the company's proposal to raise water tariffs by up to 45%. "
Does this privatization meant to resolve the inefficency or is it to create a new breed of Kleptocrats under the Maxim of Paklahism, along the ideological doctrines of Mahathirism???
According to Dr. Lim Keng Yaik, private water companies will soon be required to manage the whole spectrum of water supply operations if they wish to be part of the sector's privatization process. "If you want to privatize water, be prepared to spent money and take a holistic approach," says Dr. Lim.
"To better manage the water industry in the country, the National Water Commission will determine the benchmark for water companies in the pricing, quality and performance of process water, says Energy, Water and Communication Minister," Dr. Lim Keng Yaik (as reported in the Star, on 27th. April 2004).
From the Star report today, SYABAS would likely be given the privatization scheme. Does it mean that Dr. Lim had vetted the privatization proposal, that it had met his full and absolute criteria and requirements that the privatization scheme include the management of the whole spectrum of water operation, that consist of managing the river, sourcing and treatment of water supply, maintaining the pipes, distribution of water, and be involved in treating sewage? Is the increase of water tariff by 45% complying to the benchmark set by the Water Commission, Or is Dr. Lim backing off from his words; (maybe) due to some political pressure exerted by the superpowers at the upper level influenced by Datuk Rozali's (of Puncak Niaga) and his powerful-link at the top level that caused Dr. Lim to back off and compromise (be subdued)?????
It seem that in the Malaysian system of management, governed by the politicial Masters (the right-term used by Daruk Seri Nazri), Political Masters are allowed to say one thing and then do another thing - Cakap Untuk Syok-syok sahaja! It is again "Cakap Tak Serupa Bikin."
Dr. Lim, "please stand up and let's hear what you have got to say about this"

RUMOURS OF A NEW 28 YEARS OLD COO IN KHAZANAH
Khairy at 28 to be Chief Operating Officer at Khazanah
Singapore Business Times quoted yesterday's Asian Wall Street Journal (AWSJ) which reported that Khairy Jamaluddin, the 28-year-old son-in-law of PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, is set to become the Number Two at Khazanah Nasional.
Congratulations to Khairy! As a well educated intellectual from the Ivy league university of UK, the opportunity to serve the nation should be well received. The many sacrifices and hardwork for the son-of-man has been rewarded and this is definitely a good return on investment.
As a new and young executive who will be holding an extremely high position, I hope that he will use this opportunity to serve the nation, and with his service, he will turnaround the system, remove the corrupts, remove the cronies, re-engineer a New Malaysia Incorporated, for the people, the rakyat of Malaysia, with his dedicated and honest leadership.
But, I'm sorry to say BUT because, human as usual when given the opportunity to serve the Nation, will serve himself first, creating his own exceptional & massive wealth and built his vast empire, all for himself, then his family and then his cronies; all of these, at the expense of the rakyat. This, we can observed with half-open eyes and half shut ears, as can be seen in our politicall system.
I am not doubting Khairy's integrity and sincerity at this stage, as he should be given a chance to prove himself. What my point is, that he should remember his role and keep reminding himself of this evil of men within our political system - that GREED for MONEY (billions) & POWER (absolute power) will consume men, that in the crowded surrounding of such massive numbers of kleptocrats, (who are politically linked in order that they survive without effort, sweat and labor) even an honest man will be overwhelm by the critical mass of kleptocrats.
My wish and as well as many others, is that Malaysia will have a new breed of honest intellectually competent leaders who will look into the pains and drains of the Rakyat, largely caused by the massive corruptive politicians who were bred and nurtured through our political system for the last two decades. As the saying goes, "If we can reduce half the amount of corruption that goes into the pockets of the politicians, it is more than enough to reduce 50% of the income tax of Malaysian individuals.
Can we reduce the SyMokhtarism, Halimism, TingPKingism, brought into the system by the Doctrines of Mahathirism. I hope we are not creating the new Scomism, Rozalism, and Khairyism under the new Maxim of Paklahism. GOD bless Khairy and may GOD grant him the wisdom and strength so that he will continue to be honest to lead the Nation and to lead all the Rakyat to prosperity - NOT just the politicians and its cronies!!!!!!

PAY MORE FOR PETROLUEM IN AN OIL RICH NATION
HIGHER PETROLEUM PRICES
The Government has decided to increase the cost of petroleum fuel by two cents per litre. The price is now $1.37 begining 1st. May 2004. This will definitely cause a chain reaction to the other products and goods associated with petroleum. Anyway, almost everything in manufacturing and service sectors used fuel; at such, we have to be prepared to pay more, while earnings remain unchanged.
The reasons given by our Minister of Domestic Trade & Consumer Affairs Datuk Mohd Shafie Apdal is because of the increase in the world crude oil price, and despite the price hike, petroleum products in Malaysia were still cheaper than those in neighbouring countries, including Thailand and the Philippines.
He said the Government would still be forking out more than RM800mil in subsidies and tax exemptions for petroleum products for this month alone. Mohd Shafie said it was also likely that the Government would incur revenue losses because of the higher prices. Citing an example, he said the Government’s revenue from diesel tax for this month was estimated at RM166.9mil compared with RM180.8mil last month.
I do not doubt this statement, but why can't our Ministers also analyze the things that cost less in other countries??? There are many things which cost more here in Malaysia than in other countries, but we don't seem to hear from those Ministers of their effort and actions aimed to ensure that Malaysians will similarly enjoy those benefits.
Malaysia is an oil producing country and Petronas is reaping many billions of dollars from those GOD given assets. Why can't Petronas use some of those profits to benefit the hardcore poor, like buying up all the excess low-cost houses and then renting it to the poor for maybe, $50ringgit a month? Khir Toyo should be suggesting to the Government on this proposal instead of suggesting that the rich people be allowed to buy those low-cost houses and then rent it to the poor, which will definitely be more than $50ringgit a month.
Come-on Khir, would you at least try this proposal or maybe suggest that Ministers and State Exco members who live in bungalows worth more than a million ringgit should donate these low-cost houses to the poor.
